Why my UpdateDetector does not work?

This is my 1st time to use UPDATEDETECTOR to compare the changes in an Oracle SDE feature class and update it accordingly. Very simple process. The same SDE feature class is both the original and the writer. The feature class is initially empty. The first run works correctly to insert 75 features. I would expect the 2nd run to do nothing, but it still finds 75 updates and writes to the feature class. I have only have 2 attributes to match against, the key attribute, and a number attribute. I also tried on a Date attribute to match against, the same result. See attached. Anything I did wrong?

Point on Area Overlayer Difficulties ...

Hello,    I have never had Point on Area overlayer issues in the past but today has been frustrating.    1) I have a smaller polygon layer of census areas in which the data includes a residence count for each area        i) I put this writer through insidepointreplacer so I get a point for each polygon     ii) I put this output into the point input on the pointonarea overlayer    2) I have feature class of larger polygons which I put through the area input on the pointonarea overlayer    I want the larger polgyons attributes to be added to each point.     In the end I will use the STATCalc to get my total population for each larger polygon from the total residence count for all the census areas found inside.    Currently I am getting none of the Area input attributes to pass over the each point that is overlayed on top of it.  WHY IS THIS???    I have tried smaller datasets, I have tried Areas First, Areas not first, no multi-part features, etc;.  What is going on?  This tool used to

Export an ESRI TIN surface.

I am using as input a DEM with 0.5 meter resolution. I would like to clip it in several small areas and export it as several ESRI TIN surfaces.I did not found this format under the FME writers list.What are my options?

Cant write annotations to a new ESRI Geodatabase

I have 6 ESRI geodatabases that I want to merge into one geodatabase, and also change the data to be in EPSG 25832. I am adding each geodatabase to its own feature dataset within the output geodatabase as each geodatabase contains a different type of data.Everything works as expected, except the conversion of annotations. I get the error:An error occurred while attempting to set the 'Font' property on the 'ITextSymbol' interface for the annotation feature class 'N250_Navn'. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147024809'. The error message from ArcObjects is: {No spatial reference exists.}The input data has a spatial reference, and I have asked the output to be in EPSG 25832. So I dont understand why it fails converting these annotations with this error.I also get a warning:|An annotation feature headed for the feature class 'N250_Navn' specified a value of '473' for 'geodb_symbol_id'. '473' is an invalid value for the

transpose data in one recordset to populate another recordset

Please see following picture which provides clarification of requirement. I have two RecordSets (RecordSet1 and RecordSet2) which are derived from same reader. The data will be written to Oracle non-spatial db. I've gotten it to this point with many transformers in between. The final step is to bring in the associated values from RecordSet1 into the SEQUENCE_VALUE attribute in RecordSet2. I am having challenge with transposing the data and writing it into RecordSet2. Just need some help with an approach (lists, joiner, etc). Whatever is the best approach. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Zorawar

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to trigger an FME workspace to run automatically if there has been an edit to a Reader feature?I thought maybe the FMEServerNotifier transformer but don't think it is the right method..Thanks,

Problem with swedish characters when writing to ESRI geodatabase

I have a workspace where I read a shape file, clip the data and write it to a ESRI geodatabase with the  Esri Geodatabase (ArcSDE Geodb) reader. The attributes in the shape file contains swedish caracters. The characters is right when I read the shape file in ArcGIS but when I write the data to the geodatabase the swedish characters is replaced. How can I handle that? I have try to change character encoding on the shape file writer to iso-8859-1 (which contain swedish characters).I'm attach print screens from ArcGIS when reading the shape file (as it should look like) and from ArcGIS when reading the geodatabase.

mapping failure through too many characters

The problem is that a few cell's contain to many characters, and there takes no mapping place.I'm creating ESRI features.Is there somebody who knows how to solve this problem? I don't want to increse the cell width, so i am looking for a solution to use only the first part of the characers in a cell.

FME desktop 2016 feature writer

Currently I am using FME 2015 and a project I have completed reads a xml and writes the data it sends to a database and then sends a email saying weather it worked or did not work. I am using two workbenches with a workplace runner because I have to know if it wrote or did not write to the database table. I know using FME 2015 i either had to use the workplace runner or a python shutdown script. But in FME 2016 the feature writer has a output. I was wondering if I could somehow use that to my advantage and use that output features in someway to pass the data along so i did not have to use a workplace runner and two transformers or a python shutdown script to know if it wrote to the database or not and then send a email based on success or failure. This is being done in FME desktop not FME server so I cannot take advantage of the server emailing ability.

How can I get cells to translate over using the dgnstyler from a mapping database?

Every time I try and style a dgn for cells, I get a warning (9 heterogeneous aggregate features were split for the DGNV8 Writer into homogeneous features containing a total of 9 point, 9 curve, 0 area and 0 text geometries). Why is this happening and how can I get FME to create my cells in a dgn file?

How do I set format attributes for a feature type to go into a bentley V8 .dgn or an AutoCAD .dwg file?

I am trying to set formatting for a feature type to change into a microstation dgn file, but I can not figure it out. Please help!

Using a Length attribute and a start x, y on a road network to find the end x, y

I have a road network (with vectors all in correct direction of travel). I have a number of coordinate pairs (call these the start lat longs) that are found on the network. Each start lat long has an assigned Lenght attribute (ranging from 2m - 300m), What I'm having trouble with is locating an end lat long coordinate pair (on the network) using the Length attribute. I know how to get the length to point and extract end coordinates (using -1 in the transformer), but is there someway in fme to combine the Length to point transformer and add the Length attribute to then be able to extract the end lat longs? write utf-8 attribute PythonCaller

run workbench from external python

I am using the following python code (from takashi) to run a workbench (Python 2.7 & FME 2013):  >import fmeobjects >wr = fmeobjects.FMEWorkspaceRunner() >wr.run('C:/blab/blabla.fmw')  It works fine but now i would like to get more infos about what was going on, like logfile message, numer of feature written and exit status... is it possible?? If yes, where can i find examples and docu? The local fmeobjects api docu do not mention FMEWorkspaceRunner etc...  I now i can get it to work and access all those infos via an embedded shut down python script, but i would like to do it the other way...

How can I test CityGML attribute's value?

I have a CityGML dataset that I want to test if its value is not in a range of values (codelist). There are generic attributes that are easy to test with the Tester transformer. These look like this: <gen:stringAttribute name="DatenquelleDachhoehe">  <gen:value>1000</gen:value>  </gen:stringAttribute>  <gen:stringAttribute name="DatenquelleLage">  <gen:value>1000</gen:value>  </gen:stringAttribute>  Others look like this: <bldg:roofType>3100</bldg:roofType>  <bldg:measuredHeight uom="urn:adv:uom:m">7.808</bldg:measuredHeight>  <bldg:storeysAboveGround>2</bldg:storeysAboveGround>How can I test these attributes? Writing MapInfo TAB metadata tags

Back in 2012 I answered a question, which has a similar flavour to a question I have today.https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/5410/mapinfo-seamless-table.htmlSadly back then FME couldn't easily solve the problem and as far as I can tell it still can't?I'd like to be able to write metadata tags into MapInfo TAB files with FME, so that a process can be fully automated. As far as I know, the two MapInfo writers don't have any options for this to date.At the moment my train of thought is pursuing the angle of writing the TAB files out as normal and then running another FME Workspace to open the .tab file as text and appending the metadata tags as required. The metadata is extracted from an excel sheet, so this should be achievable. Anyone got any smarter ideas?Metadata tags look like this in MapInfo TAB files for reference and are appended to the bottom of the *.tab file:begin_metadata"\\IsReadOnly" = "FALSE""\\MapInfo" = """\\

Adjusting Memory Resources

So I am trying to run a large translation and i keep getting the error: 2015-12-18 11:31:42|2622.1| 0.1|FATAL |Insufficient memory available -- error code was 2 - please read the FME Help section 'Adjusting Memory Resources' for workarounds.Out of memory. Program terminating. Please read the FME Help section 'Adjusting Memory Resources' for workarounds.I have changed the fme_temp to a portable harddrive that is 2TB and completely empty. I also have 60 gigs free on my computers hard drive and i am only working with a 7 gig file and another sub 2 gig file. How can i get the entire process to work. i do not know what i am doing wrong. i have read the articles on performance tuning and still not getting it to work after playing with the temp.

What transformer to use to map multiple attributes?

I'm reading from a dataset that represents boolean values as a "-1" for true and a "0" as false. I'm attempting to write these values into a dataset that represents booleans as a "Y" for true and a "N" for false. I can make the "-1" -> "Y", "0" -> "N" conversion by using the AttributeValueMapper transformer, but that only works for one attribute at a time. The source dataset has about 20 boolean fields, so creating a transformer for each of those would be a time consuming and tedious process. I was wondering if there was some transformer I could use to map all these boolean values at once, or if there was a whole different approach I could take.

Oracle Writer Spatial Index Parameters

I'm using FME Desktop 2013 and writing to a new table with the Oracle SpatialWriter . Is there any way to use the parameters clause for the spatial index creation statement? I'd like to specify a layer_gtype for my spatial indexes.  For example like  CREATE INDEX bar_si ON foo(geometry)  INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX PARAMETERS ('layer_gtype=POINT')  Thanks, Yola

Opening viewable WMS

Hi,  I'm a pretty novice user of FME. I am trying to open a WMS document in FME which opens fine in QGIS. There are three seperate layers within the WMS and within each layer there are a number of different features with attributes attached to them.  FME recognises the layers so it is connecting to the WMS but I cannot see the different features within these layers. When I open the WMS in Inspector all I get is a white raster square with no features. Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks,
