How to select a folder within the folder path to use as an attribute

Hi,I have used the FilenamePartExtractor many times with good results. It is very helpful to be able to pass the root folder of the data to other transformers. I have a similar requirement for a workspace, however in this example I wish to use the folder above the root folder as they attribute. For example, if I am reading the Source data from this pathC:\\WINNT\\Profiles\\user\\Desktop\\roads.shpI wish to use the 'user' folder to fanout the Writer to create an output folder 'user'. I will then fanout by fme_basename to create the roads.shp within that 'user' folder.In this instance the FilenamePartExtractor does not work as it it does not cater for anything above the Folder Name/_dirname = 'Desktop' Can someone help me out to extract the 'user' component of the file path so it can be used as an Attribute Value for Fanout?ThanksAndrew

Interaction within PDF documents

Hi,I am creating maps in PDF format, using among others the pdfpageformatter. That works nice, I manage to create various layers in each map. I also manage to define tooltips.What I would additionally like to do is:- By clicking on a text or symbol in the mapframe, certain layers should be switched on/off (Action button)- The tooltip text is displayed horizontally, e.g. : "field1: value1; field2: value2" etc. Is it possibleto arrange the tooltip text vertically,e.g.field1: value1field2: value2etc.?I wish you folks a great weekend!

Direction of a closed curve (line)?

I have to determine the direction of a closed curve (a line where start and endpoint are the same) because I want to derive a gpx in the right direction (clockwise) from the polyline. Is there a way to do this? So I want to test if the polyline has a clockwise direction and, if not, reverse the direction. I tried the Polylineanalyzer and the azimuthcalculator, but both don't give me a solution.

Identify duplicate attributes and only keep attribute with the most recent date.

Hello,I don't know the best way to go about this, I've been trying to set some conditional statements in my AttributeManager but I'm unable to get the results I'm after. I'd like to identify the duplicate serial numbers (API NUMBER 10) in my data and then only keep the duplicate that has the most recent date (WELL STATUS DATE).Thanks in advance for your help.

AttributeFileWriter and FME server

In have a file geodatabase table with 6.7M features. A v simplified workflow is:Initiate the workbench with a CreatorDo some logic testsIf conditions are met, load in features from the database, do some processing then write the results using a generic writerIf conditions are not met, simply make a copy of the entire database using an AttributeFileReader to read the database and an AttributeFileWriter to write the copyThis works really well on the desktop but when I run it on FME server [data download service], (3) works fine but (4) will not work. I understand WHY it doesn't work (the data download service doesn't have an output dataset to write) but I can't figure out how I can fix it. Can anyone help? (The server version I'm using is 2015)

FME Server - Published parameter as utf-8 or unicode?

It seems FME Server needs unicode in the request - to for instance fmedatadownload, and if sending utf-8 it fails.For instance *fmedatadownlad/myrepository/myworkspace.fmw?myparameter=Bærre lækkertBut this will work:fmedatadownlad/myrepository/myworkspace.fmw?myparameter=B%C3%A6rre%20l%C3%A6kkert

wrong epsg value when writing ecw raster

I'm experiencing this problem when trying to reproject a raster from new to old french coordinate system using grid interpolation (RGF93_to_NTF-G-Grid-ClrkIGN_FME).apparently it only happens when using ecw writer, (or at least not with geotiff writer)The reprojection itself is good but the coordinate system writed to the ecw file is wrong.Basically, I'm telling FME to write epsg:27562, (Lambert 2 centre) but the final ecw file is writed with epsg:27582... (Lambert 2 Carto).I use these transformers : jpeg 2000 reader (epsg:2154) > csmapreprojector > ecw writer (epsg:27562)FME version : 2016.1.3.2 - build 16717 Win64Thanks for any idea...

Loop through multiple choice user parameter and copy features from one source to 1-* destinations

I haven't seen a solution to this problem anywhere despite the fact that the question has been told several times. Scenario: 1 reader and 1 writer. In published parameters you can choose one or many destinations (used by the writer). If one destination is chosen it's pretty straight forward but how do we do when several destinations is choosen? I want to copy all features from the reader to every destination that is selected in the published parameter. I.e. I want to loop the FME-script as many times as there are destinations selected. It sounds simple but not for me, please help me out on this one.

Can workspaces get "flaky" the longer they're left open?

Folks,As I become more familiar with FME my questions are getting a little more esoteric.I have one workspace that I've been developing for sometime. Weeks for the purposes of scale.I rarely close my sessions or even shutdown my PC. That's a general rule rather than anything specific to FME.One AttributeManager with a conditional rule that was changing field values from upper case to proper case just stopped working. A later process that was using this proper case value consequently stopped working. Bear in mind the processing continued just getting the unmodified values.I wrapped one of the values being matched with quotes eg If owner = "XCON", and ran the workspace. This didn't work but other conditions in the same field did work. I switched it back to the original syntax If owner = XCON and ran it again and it all just started working again.I've used apps where a periodic restart\\reopen seems to flush any lingering threads and all seems to run cleanly agai

Extract Polygons as per Grid

I am sing FME 2016 and have polygons dataset that are spread in an irregular fashion. I want to create a fishnet(grid) wherein the geometry is as per the density of the polygons. So, first of all, I have to convert the polygons to points, so that the original polygon file is not occupied by 2 different grids and then create the tiles thing and save the output in multiple polygon gdbs (outputs as per the tile). it would be really amazing if the number of polygons in one grid could be controlled.Thanks.

Hi,I have insert polygons into a Sql Server server table, and for some reason polygons are converted to geometry collections polygon and or curved polygons circularstringFor this reason Geoserver and or ArcMap does not work, because it cannot view these geometry typesI have tried all the coercer and filter but cannot seem to make it an polygon and or mutli polygonrunning on SQL Server 2014, worked perfectly on 2008R2How can i force it to these 2 logical types?Rudy

Add days to date attribute with DateTimeCalculator

Hello FME Users, I have an attribute field (Planned Drilling Days) that has the number of days a drilling operation will take to complete. I'm trying to take these days and add them to the date the drilling operation starts (Spud/Frac Start Date) in order to determine on what date operations will be completed and populating a new attribute (Spud/Frac End Date). I've been trying the DateTimeCalculator but the results are being rejected. Do I need to format the Planned Drilling Days first with DateFormatter (%d) before I send this into the DateTimeCalculator?Thanks in advance for the help.

How can I create an empty File Geodatabase using an XSD containing an ISO 19109 Application Schema?I don't have any data meeting the schema since that is the point of this exercise - create the database from the schema and then populate the database.

AttributeManager somewhat unexpected functionality

Folks,This is part observation and part confirmation of the general functionality of Transformers.I have an AttributeManager. Amongst it's operations there is a conditional evaluation of a value.If owner = XCOM then id = 0. This modified the id value. This was working. Then "all of a sudden" it stopped working.During my manipulations I applied another modification to the owner field in the same AttributeManager.If owner = XCOM then owner = Xcom. This modified the owner field. A case modification for the purposes of output.What I didn't anticipate was that my earlier condition would stop working because the case of the owner had changed based on another condition. I presumed that all operations in an AttributeManager operated on the original input file values.Is this expected functionality?

However, on the way back the attributes change drastically from the original.Original<imgeo:bronhouder>source</imgeo:bronhouder><imgeo:inOnderzoek>false</imgeo:inOnderzoek>Translated<gen:stringAttribute name="bronhouder"><gen:value>source</gen:value></gen:stringAttribute><gen:stringAttribute name="inOnderzoek"><gen:value>false</gen:value></gen:stringAttribute>Both the prefixes and the structure changes and I want them to be as similar as possible. AttributeManager IN operator syntax.

Folks,I have reviewed the questions with similar key words and try as I might I can't get a result. I suspect syntax or upside-down logic is the issue. I have been using conditional syntax all over my workspace so I know the basics.It's a classic output value after testing another field. However the test is a little backward.If Type IN "AB","BC","CD" NO OUTPUT Else OUTPUT sizeSo my criteria is rejection criteria rather than acceptance criteria. The issue is it seems to be getting completely ignored. I have reduce the IN to a single known Type and still no result.I have modified the syntax to include\\not include double quotes, single quotes, no quotes, taking care to remove white spaces, brackets ()Perhaps I'm using the wrong transformer in the wrong place.Advice appreciated.

how can I add the feature name to the attribute name?

I combine many feature types to create input for the geodatawarehouse. some feature types have attributes with same names but different meanings. eg: feature type "house" with attributes like "windows", "doors", "number" and feature type "street" with "name" and "number". For to detect the origin-featuretype of the attribute, I'd like to rename them like house.number house.windows house.doors street.name street.number. How can I acchieve this without renaming every Attribute "by Hand"? Thanks in advance. Frauke

How to clip wall polygon by roof polygon and delete internal walls of buildings?

Hi, I want to create my own LOD2 model (based on another LOD2 model). The problem with the LOD2 I have is that the surface orientations are not correct (not outwards of buildings) and there is no logic in these errors (a solution could be determining an inner point and checking that the surface normal points away, but this does not work for building with a complex footprint). So, I have the roof polygons of the original LOD2 model as well as the minimal z-co of the building and I want to rebuild the building based on these. I labelled main volumes of buildings and extensions as separate buildings. So, one building has 1 roof shape, that consists of multiple roof polygons (often not planar). Sometimes, there are also small extensions in the roof (see picture). What I had in mind:First, I use the surfacefootprintreplacer to project the roof surfaces to a horizontal plane that is at the height of the lowest roof eave. Dynamic writer is not exporting all attributes

I suspect that I am missing some simple setting here. But simple as it might be, I cant find a solution. I have set up a workspace that imports a bunch of shape files and runs various transformers on them. Among these are Attribute Managers for some of the files, where I add a couple of new attributes. But for some reason these new attributes do not get written to the exported shape files. When I Inspect the last step with the same data that is feed the Dynamic Writer everything looks fine. Is there some setting I have missed or do I need an additional step, with a extra transformer, to write the new schema?
