MapInfo polygon order

Hi, I have created a workbench to translate British OS Mastermap from gml to .tab which works fine and I have multiple MapInfo. Tab outputs.  I also have a combined topography. tab which has all the features present but some building features are above land features and vice versa I have tried sorting prior to and after testing and styling but I have not been able to place all building feature above land features, fairly new to FME so any suggestions would be greatly received.  Thanks in advance  M

Browse Connected Features

Hi,  I have a requirement of browsing  the connected point features at start and end nodes of a linear feature in shape file. I am trying with "Intersector" transformer to browse the connected feature, but it not works as per our requirement. Can any one please provide the correct approach of finding the connected point features.  Thanks, Seshu

WGS84 Elipsoid parameters

Dear All,   I have made some ascii grids in different software packages. I used a lambert confomal conical projection, with de WGS84 as coordinate system.   The three software packages used different elipsoid parameters: Global Mapper: Semimajor Axis: 6378137.0; Semiminor Axis: 6356752.314245 ESRI: Semimajor Axis: 6378137.0; Semiminor Axis: 6356752.314245179 FME: Semimajor Axis: 6378137.0; Semiminor Axis: 6356752.3142  Can anyone explain me the consequences of these differences? The grids can be 1000 km in length. And maybe somebody also knows why the software packages have used these different parameters?   Hope you can clarify.   Kind regards,   Guido

Ignore Failed Readers when reading a Zip file with FME 2013 b13261

Hi!  I'm trying to set up a workspace with three Readers: TAB, MIF/MID and Shape. I've published a parameter, which contains the path to a zip file. The zip file could contain either TAB, MIF/MID or Shape files. If the zip file has only Shape files, the TAB Reader fails and gives an error. I would like FME to ignore failing readers. Setting up the parameter Ignore Failed Readers to Yes doesn't seem to have an effect.  BR, Lassi

Performance Issue is SDE geodatabase

Hi,   I am using ARCSDE geodatabase as inputs to the workbench, from the input tables I need to extract the coordinates(x,y) values for point features and for linear linear feature i need to extract every vertex id's of the element(line segment) along with x, y coordinates of each vertex and "from junction element id" & "to junction element id" of the element. To extract the geometry information FME takes lot of time. Time consumption is the major hurdle in this project. It is the chalenging issue to succed in our project. Why do file geodatabase and SDE readers produce different fme_geometry types?

  I have one very simple workbench that I am running against both SDE (9.3) and FGDB (10.0) sources.   I noticed two different fme_geometry values for same type of objects.   For the first one, i.e SDE 9.3, I have fme_geometry=fme_donut, but for the same features in FGDB 10.0 I have fme_geometry=fme_aggregate.   Is this a "problem" of converting ESRI data from 9.3 to 10.0 or how FME interprets geometry?   Because in case of fme_aggregate, FME is doing "additional" job of constructing donuts again:  Calculating inside points Determining uppermost containment Constructing donuts from xxx points    (Visible in log window)

Vertical Datum reprojection

I have a bunch of North American data points that reference NAVD 27, 83 and WGS 84 ellipsoid for elevations. How can I utilize FME to reproject the vertical data so it references the WGS 84 geoid (EGM96) instead of its current vertical datum?

FME 2013 Startup question and suggest

Hi,  FME 2013 may connect to amazon AWS cloud service to update some data like FME Store or something else. And I donn't know if the reason is Chinese network, just like we always cann't browse Youtube, Twitter, etc, and have problems to use any Google services from time to time. I have to spend a few minutes to startup FME 2013 for some times. But if I disable my network or use firewall to block FME to connect WWW, it gets normal.  So would this problem be fixed by doing some modified to the stage of connecting web? Thanks.

FME - Blue Marble HTDP Integration?

Does the new Blue Marble intergation allow for Horizontal Time Dependent Positioning (HTDP) reprojections? The blue marble software does allow for this type of transformation and I want to know if FME can take advantage of this if I have Blue Marble installed.

Zipped mdb error

Just tried to write out to a .zip file for the first time in 2013.  It is a personal geodatabase (mdb).  When I use WinZip to unzip it, I get the following error which causes the unzipping to fail:    Extracting to "C:\\Documents and Settings\\eej2013\\Local Settings\\Temp\\" Use Path: no   Overlay Files: yes For file "AvistaFacility.mdb", the time stamp in the central directory is invalid, using the current system time instead. For file "AvistaFacility.mdb", the time stamp in the local directory is invalid, using the current system time instead. Extracting AvistaFacility.mdb Error:  invalid compressed data to inflate    Anyone else having trouble or know what I'm doing wrong or if there's a bug?    FNE 20130109 - Build 13261 - WIN32

PostGIS writer multipolygon issue

Hi,  I have an existing multipolygon PostGIS table. The entry in the geometry_columns is multipolygon and there are constraints on the table (2d, multipolygon and SRS).  1. When trying to write some features from a shapefile reader, only the single part polygons are written to the table. The multipart polygons get following warning: Geometry might not be representable in requested form  The allowed geometries parameter in the writer is set to "postgis_multipolygon".  2. In QGIS I can open the table and view the single part polygons that are written to the table, but the geometry column of the features is empty.  Found some similar topics in the FME talk but these are not really solving my problem.  Any ideas?  Thx, Rob

Interpret 10.1 data as 10.0

Maybe not so important but I would like to know why does FME interpret data 10.1 as 10.0? I am reading 10.1 data but at the log file writes:    ...Installed ArcGIS version is '10.1'  ...  ... ...File Geodatabase release: '10.0'

Possibilities on data maintenance workflow

Here's my workflow scenario: 1. Vendor uploads multiple county parcels into FTP server  - file is submited by county 2. Running on a scheduled task, FME unpacks and downloads each county parcel  3. Each zip file is unpacked and stored in a shared folder with county sub folders.  4. New feature classes are added in either in SDE or FGDB 5. Feature classes are added to an existing MXD using a layer file template 6. MXD is saved as MSD (perhaps overwrite an existing one) 7. MSD is then updated into ArcGIS server as a web mapping service  County parcels are in FGDB and SHP. Only the FCs in the FGDB will be merged into a single store for all county FCs delivered. New deliverables are received weekly and updated quarterly.  I'm thinking of using Python in FME for the functionalities that will translate the MXD, MSD, and layer files.  This involves almost 160 county parcels and 4M records that's why it would be good to automate this workflow.

GeoRSS and XMLFlattener

Hi all,  I haven't worked with XML in FME much so forgive me if this is a simple question. I have a GeoRSS feed that I would like to bring into FME, manipulate it then output into SQL Server 2008.  The main aim is to get data from our state fire authority website overlayed in my organisation's enterprise GIS as this information is of particular interest duing the high fire danger period that we are currently in.  I can't figure out how to manipulate the GeoRSS feed so that it can be processed using the XMLFlattener transformer (assuming this is the best way to extract the information in the feed).  The GeoRSS feed is: http://osom.cfa.vic.gov.au/public/osom/IN_COMING.rss  Any help or hints would be appreciated.  Cheers, Bazza

Change Detector with Personal Geodatabase

I am using the Change Detector to compare changes between a feature class in SDE and a feature class in a personal geodatabase.  I am running into a problem with the output from the Change Detector transformer when using the personal geodatabase feature class.  I have tried to run this transformer comparing an SDE feature class with a shapefile and the output is what I would have expected.  With the personal geodatabase feature class however I receive incorrect results.  I am only comparing geometry changes and ignoring changes to attributes at the moment.    If anyone could provide any guidance on this matter, then I would really appreciate it.  Thank you!

Improved FME Desktop help

Has anyone noticed the efforts of the documentation team at Safe Software in improving the FME Desktop help with the nice automatic sync with the ToC?  The manage bookmarks,index, advanced search all add value to the documentation user.  Now most dialog boxes have Help buttons and in some cases "i" icon to let the user jump to the relevant section of the help (readers, writers, transformers,feature representation, reader/writer directives etc.)  Thank you Safe Software for your attention to nitty gritty details.  Regards SRG

InlineQuerier Transformer to import data from another transformer?

Hi FME'ers  Is it possible to get the Inline querier to import in fields from the workflow rather than from a reader?   i.e. I have a table that I am reading, I then carry out a number of processes on it and rename fields etc, then I want an Inline querier to take that data along with another table being read in and create a join. Joiner transformer constantly crashes and closes my FME down when I try to use the ArcSDE format.

Cannot access tables to Oracle DB with Reader. But can connect with Transformer OracleQuerier

Hello  As the title says I cannot access the tables in the oracle Spatial DB (10.2.0.4.0) with the add Reader command.  The strange thing is, that with the transformer "OracleQuerier" I have access to the tables in the DB. I suspect it is because with the transformer, i can choose which version of Oracle (9i/10g/11) i have. With the reader I cannot.  Do you have any ideas? Do you need more information about my specs? I use FME 2011 SP4 on WIN32  The connection parameters are correct as i can get a connection to the Oracle DB with SQL Manager, ArcMAP (with add sql layer) and AutoCAD MAP. And as I mentioned with the OracleQuerier as well.  Excuse my english Regards Bernard

Google Fusion Tables API is changing and this will affect FME Google Fusion readers & writers

Google has announced that the Google Fusion Tables SQL API is being deprecated and replaced by the Google Fusion Tables API v1.0. This will occur on or around 14 January 2013.  The main API change is the move to OAuth 2.0  This means that existing FME Google Fusion readers & writers will not be able to access your Google Fusion tables.  All new FME 2013 Versions (after build 13261) will support the new OAuth 2.0 authorisation.  If you have problems connecting to your Google Fusion tables please contact Safe support

OSM file to ArcGIS File GeoDB

Hi All,  I have some problems when I try to convert OSM file to ArcGIS FileGeoDB. These problems are mainly due to invalid or duplicate field name in the OSM file.  When I convert the same OSM file to Shape File everything is fine.  So my question is when Shape File export can find and remove that kind of errors why  FileGeoDB (API /Arc Object) export cannot find and fix that kind of errors in the field name?  Can someone explain me a way to automatically find/fix these problems, rather than run the workbench until it fails and then fix them manually?  Is there something available in FME like ValidateFieldName in ArcGIS?  I am using FME 2012 64bit on Windowx 7 64bit.

ASCII point and line .xyz export to DEMGenerator

Hey Geos,  Has anyone built a workbench the reads in ASCII point and line file and generates either the RasterDEMGenerator or DEMGenerator?  The ASCII breakline contains 4 fields (X, Y, Z, start/stop[1]).  The breakline has a 1 at the start of the breakline then 0 for each vertice, then a 1 for the end of the breakline.  I am unable to figure out how to have the transformer reads the breakline.xyz file.  This breaklines are seperate from the ASCII point files.  Looking for some help with this head scratcher.  THANKS.
