FME 2012: Logging Options

Can FME 2012 be integrated with a 3rd party tool like ArcSight to help manage the logs? Or is there any other tool/options that FME be integrated with for the log files?

Breaking linear feature at Particular coordinate

Hi All,  I have a requirement of exporting Smallworld data into shape files, in that a challenging task is to break the linear feature at particular coordinates. I have the coordinates where i need to break in linear feature. Please suggest how I need to break the linear feature at that particular coordinates.  Thanks, Seshu

Extract by GPs

When I eventually have a public fme server and extract workbench I want the users to be able to type in GPs to extract by. I almost know how to do this but not quite, its something to do with published parameters.

Duplicate on Writer is the best thing ever but...

it needs a keyboard shortcut. Having just right clicked it and duplicated it serveral hundred times I can verify this.

Invoking WorkspaceRunner upon completion of FME processing

Hello:  I have two FME programs:  1) Loads data in one spatial table 2) Loads data in another spatial table  I would like to :  - Keep these scripts independent, so script 1 can run on demand and to its thing, and - Script 2) can call script 1), for extra processing.  My problem is, how do I invoke Script 1) from Script 2)?  They both do different data processing, but it will be great if one can call the other.  I am struglling with how to invoke Script 1, because there is no way "to trigger" its processing. I would like that, once Script 2 is done, it automatically triggers Script 1.  Is this possible to do? I have been trying to do this with WorkspaceRunner, but I don`t get it to "run"  Thanks again.  Richard.

Spatial Direct to FME Server 2013 Migration

I'm starting a SD to FME Server migration. Not sure where to start. Here is my current SD page: http://ocs-spatial.ncd.noaa.gov/SpatialDirect/translationServlet?SSFunction=prepareFetch  So I should create 4 workbench. Publish them to my public fme server and then worry about how I'm going to do the text interface?

Visualizer/dual monitor question

Hi all,   I work with dual monitors at work and when I visualize output from a FME workspace, it seems to open a window on the second monitor as a default. When I work from home via remote desktop connection, I only can only see the first screen, so I am unable to see the visualizer window. Is there an option to force the visualizer to open on the first screen or is there some other setting I can change?  Thanks in advance! Paul

VerticesExtractor in FME2010

Hi All,   While trying to use vertocesExtractor transformer in FME version 2010, it shows error message like..."the transfomer 'counter'(version'2') is used by this workspace, but is not currently available on your system".  Please suggest how I need to resolve this problem in FME 2010 version.  Thanks, Seshu

Why FME Server 2013 is using the owner "public" by default for PostGIS queries?

Looks like FMEServer 2013 does a Postgis query by default with the owner "public" before using the login specified in the fmw?? The error raised is causing me problems in my application NOTE: All my data is not in the public schema  Log:  Error executing SQL command ('select * from "public"."hafa_acoa_02_poly" limit 0'): 'ERROR: relation "public.hafa_acoa_02_poly" does not exist  No spatial column was found for 'public.hafa_acoa_02_poly'. This is most likely a PostgreSQL table with no spatial data. No geometry will be read. If spatial data is not present, please try using the PostgreSQL reader instead  PostGIS geometry type unknown or empty (). How to automate parcel numbering

Kindly i need your help , i have a tool in map info that make auto numbering sequentially by clicking in feature  when i press on the feature the value in the record will increase or decrease by a value which i decide, i have to do it manually.  Is it FME capable to do same thing like mapinfo but in automated process. Any advice.   Thank You

Nested Custom Transformers

Kia-ora all, I am trying to use FME to implement a pseudo regression analysis. I have a workbench that performs a core process that comes up with 1 output value to tell me how well various parameters are corellated to a known result. This depends on a bunch of parameters (8 in all), and I need to run through testing each possible combination of parameters (256), turning them on and off, to find the best combination. Now I can create this scenario quite well with nested custom transformers, with each one just setting a parameter to 0 moving to the next nest level, then setting to 1 etc. Last level of nests is the bit where the core processing actually happens. This effectively loops through all 256 possibiities, without technically looping in FME. But I am discovering that this is probably not the most efficient way to do it, as each extra nest adds a load of time to actually working in workbench, as presumably it always has to think of how anything I do affects any nests undern

Create multiple polygons based on a table join

Hi,  I have a polygon feature class and a table in a file geodatabase. There are multiple rows in the table for a given polygon in the feature class. I want to create a new polygon feature class with polygons for every match in the table. I have tried Matcher, which seems to work, but it is not populating the Shape Area and Shape Length. Anything else I should look into?  Thanks, Srini

Deleting records prior to data load

Hello guys:  I am looking for a way to delete several records from some tables that are "children" of a spatial feature class (SDE), prior to this layer to be refreshed.  The layer in question has two "child" tables, so the truncate option on FME does not work, as Oracle return an error regarding foreign key and child records found.  What I am looking for is for a little process that performs deletions in those two tables prior for the data to be loaded in the spatial layer.  I have been using a SQL Executor and linking the data to be loaded to the "Initiator" parameter of the SQLExecutor. Obviously, in this case the SQLExecutor is called as many times as the number of records that exist in the data source used to refresh the spatial layer, colliding and returning an exception that the "object is locked" (because is trying to delete the table every single time a feature is read).  If I leave the SQL Executor as a "standalone" transforme

Workbench fails to run on Linux Server

Hi, I adopted the example of a Catalog and Repository from: http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/Samples_and_Demos/Integration-example-for-OGC-CSW-Data-Catalog-And-Repository-with-FME-Server to build a workbench that reads in files, guesses the format, gets, the bounds and dataset names and writes this metadata to an XML-Template and copies the original files to a definied directory. Works fine on my Computer and on our (windows-based) test server but fails to run on the Linux based Server of our partners.  In order to identify the error, I have created a workbench that just copies the files. This runs well on the Linux server - so it isn't a permission problem. But as soon as I add the XML-templater the workbench will stop with an error on the Linux-based FME Server. Here is what the log says:   2013-03-09 22:48:52|   0.7|  0.0|INFORM|FME API version of module 'XMLTemplaterFactory' matches current internal version (3.7 20121025) 2013-03-09 22:48:52|   0.7|  0.0|WARN  |XMLTemplater(XMLTem

Hi, another CityGML question! is there a possibility to write CityGML 2.0.0 already? I'm trying to model the buildings at LoD0, as lod0FootPrint, but this citygml_lod_name is not valid! "The 'lod20FootPrint' citygml_lod_name trait is invalid for 'Building' features, the geometry will be ignored, valid values are {lod1MultiSurface, lod1Solid, lod1TerrainIntersection, lod2MultiCurve, lod2MultiSurface, lod2Solid, lod2TerrainIntersection, lod3MultiCurve, lod3MultiSurface, lod3Solid, lod3TerrainIntersection, lod4MultiCurve, lod4MultiSurface, lod4Solid, lod4TerrainIntersection}." Can I add this possibility manually, or should I wait for a new (updated) cityGMLwriter? (next question I will ask, will be concerning the modelling of tunnels and bridges ;))  with kind regards, Ine De Cubber

Tagging all features with an attribute

Hi,  Me again. I want to use the date and time the workspace is run as the output file name.  At the moment, I am using a creator, timestamper and featuremerger to add the datetime attribute, then using fanout dataset on the datetime.  This seems a bit of a clumsy way of doing it, as the featuremerger is slow when processing lots of features.  Can anyone think of a better way? Really I want to tag all features with the same value. I could do this by creating a published parameter, but cant think how to populate it with date/time.  Thanks,  Owen

Using Change Detector with SDE and Shape File

Hi there,  I have a line feature class in an SDE database that changes daily. I need to compare this feature class with the newer shapefile and add the changes to the SDE feature class. Currently, I have a reader for the SDE feature class, a reader for the shape file, they go through the change detector transform, and then I have a writer to the same SDE feature class. However, the change detector is not detecting any duplicates, even when I test with the exact same file (so all output should be unchanged).  This works correctly if I have two readers that are both shapefiles, or two readers that both read from an SDE feature class. Any ideas why it won't detect duplicates with a combination?  Thank you.

Most used transformer?

Hello everyone, Im new to FME and the number of transformer is huge.  I would like to know if theres a list of most used transformers around, so I can start learning them first.  I did the workbook example and was able to learn how to use several transformer.  I will have to deal with spatial data alot.  Thanks

Creating SQL 2012 Spatial Geography Column from existing Geometry Column

Hello. I am new to using FME/ESRI Data Interoperability tools, so please forgive me for my inexperience with FME translations.  I am working with the Data Interop Extension for ArcGIS , and am attempting to use a custom ETL tool to assist with the translation. I have a SQL 2012 database that contains a table of our crime data. The table has an X and Y coordinate field, which is based off NAD83 Illinois State Plane West system. Using the X and Y fields, I created a GEOMETRY column in the table in SQL Server managment studio (set the SRID in SQL to 4326 when creating the column). However, in order to use Bing tiled map services, I need to have data stored in a Geography column. I am trying to use the FME tool (ESRIReprojector) to import the SQL Server Spatial table, reproject it from NAD83 to WGS84, and then output the result to the empty GEOGRAPHY column. The workspace will run, but there is Not any data populated to the new GEOGRAPHY ) column in the SQL table and I am unsure of where I

I have 2 shapefiles (points). How can i copy the attributevalue from shape 1 to shape 2 if the points have the same geometry. Example if point A from shape 1 and point B from shape 2 have the same X,Y and i want to copy an attributevalue from point B point A

Importing data from fme to smallworld

Hi, I am importing the shapefile from fme to smallworld,  In my shape file i have 169 records but only 10 records are importing. In this process i am getting the error  ::  Error :Primitive a polygon.all_intersections failed status 1376267(0,21,11) Too many intersections  How can i resolve this problem please help me and suggest me the solution as early as possible. Thanks in advance.
