Connection issues with FME Floating License Server

Dear Support Team, Require your assistance on the below issue. Issue: Unable to connect to the floating licence server on port 27009 Background: - I have installed the 2013 fme-desktop-win-x64.msi on our Non-Production servers - But our floating license server is on Production environment - Port 27000 is also pre-occupied for the backup purpose As per my request our server team has opened up the port 27001-27009 between the Non-production and Production servers. I am able to Telnet from Non-Production to Production on port 27009. But I am unable to validate licence using “connect to a floating license server”. It is unable to established connection. Please advise if I am missing something. Or how would I resolve this issue. Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards, Subrata

Lidar feature extraction

Hello, From what I am able to tell, FME is a very powerful spatial data extraction tool. But I have some specific use cases I am trying to decide if FME is a software that can be of use to me for extracting features out of Lidar data. A perfect example of my needs would be to use FME on lidar data taken of, say, along a street where we need to extract the edge of curb lines. Another example would be to detect changes over time, say i have a lidar dataset of a hillside taken in at two different times throughout the year. Would one be able to use FME to detect changes over time between the two datasets? Any help would be greatly appreciated on the matter! Thank you all for reading my post.

Creating .flt file with minimum number of texture files !!!

Hello! I have to add texture from a single .bmp file for more objects( roof buildings grouped by a common code) The target format is Openflight (.flt). I'm blocked in this procedure, please help me!!! For other details see the previous post named "add texture to polygons" In other words i can obtain for each object one texture file and i need a single texture file for a group of objects. Thanks!

KML Writer with Attributes from Multiple Tables

Hi. I am using a SpatialFilter transformer to join two Oracle tables, and routing the result set to an Inspector and to a KML Writer. The Inspector is correctly showing all wanted attributes from both tables (I am using AttributeKeepers to filter to only wanted attributes). The KML Writer, however, is only showing the attributes for the parent table. In the KML Writer, under Dynamic Properties, I am selecting both source schemas, so I'm unsure why the Writer is only showing the attributes from the parent schema. Is there a way I can make the KML Writer show the attributes from both schemas (preferably without using an external .csv as I don't know whether I will have access to external files within a production mode). Looping Through Fields

Hello FMErs, I have a dataset with a large number of attributes I want to write to KML. Since most of the fields for any one record will be empty I'd like to check each field of each record and remove the field if it does not contain data. The search criteria for each field are the same so I'd like to loop the attributes from an array of some sort. I've looked at lists and looping in custom transformers but I can't quite see a path. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Alan

Hey all, I have a problem starting FME Desktop (2013 SP1) when connected to our network by VPN. As workaround I checked out a license, this worked until I connected by VPN because I needed my mail / network directory... Always worked like a charm until the 2013 versions. Anyone a clue? Joining Oracle Tables and Outputting a KML that Contains Attributes from Both Tables

Good morning. I am trying to join two Oracle tables, TableA and TableB, to output a KML file that contains attributes from both tables. I am able to do this presently by using a temporary table created within Oracle and then simply reading this table within FME and then using the KML writer to output the KML. On production, I will not be allowed to use temporary tables, so I will need to handle the join within FME. In Oracle, my join condition to create the temporary table is very simple: a.state = b.state. How would I accomplish this join between TableA and TableB and keep the attributes a.col1, a.col2, a.col3, b.col1 in my output KML? I have tried various methods, but all without success. I am always only able, when I view the KML, to see attributes a.col1, a.col2, a.col3 or b.col1--never all in the same KML. Thanks very much. JR

Clipper doing strange things to .dgn cells

I have a .dgn file with many cells that I am clipping. I am not editing the cells in any way. I read it in, run the clipper (on shapes from another dgn) and write it out, attaching a cell library as necessary. Where the output is clipped, there are no cells, obviously. Where it is not clipped, there are only cells where it is within the bounding box of a clipper, and active points everywhere else. I am doing nothing with the clipper's bounding boxes at all. I am using the clipper in a very simple way. I have no idea why cells would only be preserved as cells when they are in the bounding box of a clipper, and dropped to point everywhere else. When I inspect the output directly in Data inspector, attributes appear identical, except the cells carry the _fme_no_clipper attribute, and the features that are dropped to points do not (all of these features are outside the clipping boundaries.) What is going on? Is this a feature of the clipper I didn't know about? A crazy b

ms access reader failed to create adodb connection object

Adding a logo to a pdf when using fanout

I have an existing workspace that creates a pdf and inserts a logo by reading a png file and then using a rastergeoreferencer to place that on the page (using page units). I now want to expand this workspace to create multiple pdfs using the fanout on the dataset. However using the fanout means the raster ends up in a pdf file of it's own due to not having the relevant attribute set. I cannot just set the attribute as it needs to go in each pdf output. Any bright ideas?

Engine control by FME Console command parameter

We have more than one FME Engine installed on our FME Server host. The Engines have different Versions, e.g. one Engine is 2012 and one 2013. This is inevitable in order to keep older workbenches functioning due to a lacking downward compatibility. So far with FME 2012 Server I was able to define on which of the engines a service will be run by assigning a parameter such as 'tm_fmeInstance Engine1' on the FME Server Console command (line). With FME 2013 Server this does no loger work. How am I to control the engine on which a service will be executed?

Changing greyscale hillshading to colour

Hi there, Having problems with some hillshaded geotiffs of height data. They are greyscale at the moment but I cannot work out how to change them to coloured output. Have tried the "Feature Colour Setter" but without much use! Does anyone have any help or ideas for me please?!!

FME 2013 SP1 What's new Build Numbers

Hello My question refers to the What's New Info which comes with FME 2013 SP1 The What's New in the "latest" official FME 2013 says for the latest change: BUILD 13264 20130207 The What's New for FME 2013 SP1 starts with the oldest entry: BUILD 13400 20121109 and ends with the latest entry: BUILD 13448 20130319 My questions: Why is Build 13400 from Nov. 2012 when Build 13264 is from Feb 2013 ? I thought Build numbers are counted upwards ;-) What happened between 13264 and 13400 ? I' m sure there is a simple answer, but still I am confused ... Michael

Using AttributeRenamer like an AttributeSetter

I'm upgrading from FME 2010 to FME 2013 and i'm a bit confused on which way to set an attribute to the value of another attribute. i previously setting attributes using the AttributeSetter, but I had a lot of them, so I thought I could use the new functionality of the AttributeRenamer and reduce the transformer count in my workspace. I want the attributes A, B, C to have the values in attributes 1, 2, 3. So I have the Attributes 1/2/3 defined in the Old Attribute column, and Attributes A/B/C in the Default Value column. (Is there a way to post a JPG of this?) Do I have that right? Or is it the other way around? Thanks. Sarah

TopologyBuilder in 2013 is very slow

I have tested the TopologyBuilder in FME 2012, FME 2013 and FME 2013 Server (64bit). Processing the data of approx 3milj. lines (street network) in FME 2012 takes approx. 5 hours. With FME 2013 it takes over 22 hours and in FME server it takes over 50 hours (has not reache the end yet). I noticed that the transformer has been rewritten in the new FME version (since it is different from before). I suppose it is a bug! Does anyone know of some other way to build the topology with FME?

Join Table to feature class and overwrite existing attributes

I have an existing Geodatabase feature class that I want to join a table to based on a common key. Once joined I want to copy the values of several fields in the external table and overwrite the equivolent existing fields in the geodatabase. I have used the featuremerger transforner before but don't see how to direct the data from the supplier into existing fields in the requestor. Is their another tool to use? Thanks, Chris M

Group and ungroup Feature Types in reader groups in the Navigator Pannel

Hi, I would like how to group and ungroup feature types from reader groups in the navigator pannel I have a 150 shape files in a work bench split over about 40 groups (Readers), however I would like to alter the readers are grouped without breaking the work bench model. FME 2012 fails to read a DWG file, FME 2013 reads it

Hi, got an unexpected problem when re-building my FME 2013 workspace for FME 2012. DWG reader fails in the rebuilt workspace. FME 2012 Workbench error message: AutoCAD Reader: An error occurred for dataset 'AYAA-GE42C_2 dwg.dwg', in function AutoCAD2004Reader::open: 'Not that kind of class' FME 2013 reads the file without problem. Make Workbench call to prompt for parameters

Using parameters to specify a Readers dataset.

All, The answer is probably right in front of my face, but I'm not seeing it. I'm trying to use a Public Parameter, MG say, in the Dataset for the Bentley MicroStation Design (V7) data Reader to specify the top level directory containing all my design files. I am entering $(MG)\\**\\*.dgn in the Dataset and when I click OK to save the Reader, I get the error "Undefined macro 'MG' dereferenced in file ...." Program Terminating. I'm using FME 2013 Workbench. Any hint in the right direction would be appreciated. Steve

ESRI Geodatabase Writers: How to prevent TABLE creation

Hello Is there a way to set up an ESRI Geodatabase Writer in a way, so that it will NOT automatically create a table that is not existing ? Background: I want to stop with an ERROR if the writer tries to write to a non existing table. Target is to have the schema available before and to stop if it is incomplete instead af letting the writer create a missing table. I went through the Writer docu but could not really find an answer to this. Thanks Michael

Hi Guys, from a source .dgn file i read postal codes from TAGs into a destination .xls file. I want to fill these postal codes in the .xls file automatically in a Attribute filter and Attribute Creators should been created where an attribute is create which have this postal code. so when in the Excel file is an postal code 20000, i want to fil automatically a attribute filter which filter a named cell with 20000 and an attribute creator will be set after the filter where an attribute postal code is filled with 20000. FME Shapefile not Valid in PostGIS

Dear FME experts, I’m getting quite desperate about a problem I still can’t solve. The input format is shape which contains areas. We use FME desktop (2013 SP1) to correct a great number of these geometries. The workbench contains AreaOnAreaOverlayers / Dissolvers etc. At the end we check the geometries with the GeometryValidator where we test all issues. 4 geometries are repaired. The output is shape again. Until here everything is fine. After this we use SPIT to load the shapes in PostGIS. Running isValid in PostGIS returns a lot of errors. Self intersections. Our workaround is to repair geometry in ArcGIS which solves the self intersections. (a lot of them!) Then we load the shape again in FME, run the feautures through the GeometryValidator with all checks. 16 geometries are getting repaired. Now we can successfully load the shapes in PostGIS. The isValid function returns nothing now. I would love to skip the repair geometry cycle in ArcGIS. My latest guess is i

AttributeRounder Error/Warning

When using Attribute rounder with ArcGIS 10.1 /Oracle 11 we get the following warning when we use the attribute rounder. We are generally rounding to either 0, 1, or 2 decimal places. AttributeRounder: High-precision rounding procedure resulted in overflow; original value kept Does anyone know how to prevent this warning and why we get it and is this something we should worry about or is it safe to ignore it?
