What is the meaning of this type of warning: "WARN |Hit data-shattering case"?

The full warning specific to my case is: "WARN |Hit data-shattering case as 58594 new nodes were created after phase 2, compared to 2344 nodes created after phase 1." I am doing a shape to shape transform with FME desktop 2013sp3 where I use an overlay transformer (line on polygon) to add an attribute to the line. It is not stopping anything but I'd like to know what the significance of the warning is. It is too criptic for me. I've done a search in FMEPEDIA with 2 non related results. Is there a list of warnings with descriptions anywhere?

Write google fusion table to a specific folder on Google Drive?

Hi, Is it possible to specify an existing output folder on Google Drive when writing to a Google Fusion table? It always ends up in the root folder (My Drive) for me. I would like to write the table to an existing shared folder to avoid having to share the table when it's written. /mats

Export coded domain from Geodatabase

Hi, I am using FME2014 and I am using this documentation : http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/How_To/Working-with-Geodatabase-Subtypes-and-Domains At the step 3 of reading domain values in the documentation, I click on VIEW of the coded_domain (DIAMETER) and I have my list of coded domain values from my GDB. Exemple : http://fmepedia.safe.com/servlet/rtaImage?eid=ka1a0000000cwS9&feoid=00N30000007dMlC&refid=0EM30000000TpzI What I want to do is to export this list into something else like Excel. I have hundreds of coded domain values into my GDB, each of them connected to Feature Class. I would like to export the coded domain values (code and description for each of them) from all the FC I would choose to read into FME. You think it is possible? Thank you!

All, I am using schemamapper and was able to transfer the data correclty from my source to my destination file, how ever, I know that there are attributes that were not mapped and didnt go through the unmapped section of the transformer. Any thoughts why this is not working correctly? I did a 1:1 attribute map. Thanks

SpatialRelator and Overlaps

Hello I wanted to ask the FME Gurus about SpatialRelator that gives me a strange result. I have a couple of feature sets, polygons and annotations, that are related. Both sets have the same number of features and both include an attribute SECTION_NO which has the same value for the related features. For each of the polygons I need to get the text of the related annotation which is stored in an attribute named TEXTSTRING. I added a SpatialRelator, connected the polygon set to BASE, annotation set to CANDIDATE, set "Group By:" to SECTION_NO to make sure that only features with the same value in that attribute are compared, and set "Tests to Perform" to CONTAINS and OVERLAPS. From the output I use the attributes of the polygon and _relationships{}.TEXTSTRING Most of the polygons are large enough to contain the annotations and the result is as I expect - I have the value of TEXTSTRING in the output. Rounding coordinates when reprojecting from and to Oracle Spatial Object tables

Hello, I'm doing a straigth-forward conversion of Oracle SDO_GEOMETRY from srid 294914 (old national coord.base) to srid 3067 (new national coord.base) using just Oracle reader and writer. Is there any way to reduce the number decimals in the output, at the moment converting from 3385034.91; 6678837.36 (east; north) produces 384911.612948413; 6676033.80278682 Best solution would be to have some parameter in the writer to round or cut to a desired number of decimals . I assume that using some transformer (like CoordinateRounder) between reader and writer would substantially increase the execution time ? Esko

Error converting C string to OCI number - maybe FME 2013 bug?

Hello I have an FME process that connects to Oracle, reads X and Y coordinates from a table, find attributes in layers and writes data back to a different table in the same Oracle database. The X and Y attributes are defined as a NUMBER with three decimal places in both tables. It worked well in FME Desktop 2011 SP2. A few weeks ago I upgraded to FME Desktop 2013 SP 1, opened and run the same workspace, but it displayed a warning on some records like: |WARN |Error converting from C character string to OCI number : `OCI-22062: invalid input string [-.351]' And FME did not write th evalue to the table. The error occurred for all values > -1 and < 0. In the above case the actual value in the table was -0.351. I don't know much of FME but assume that after reading the numeric value FME converts it to a string and then converts it back to a number before writing to the target table. If I use the Oracle function TO_CHAR(-0.351), it returns the string '-.351' but

How to specify the feature type in the FeatureReader

Hi I have a huge set of Las files and I just want to pick out one or more of the files and cut out a pre-defined area. The area will be defined by the user, a published parameter. I do area on area overlay, the customer defined area over a square grid to catch one or more id numbers. Know I drop the geometry and just use the attribute in this part of the workbench. Couse I figured it would take longer time to do a spatial intersection in the next part of the workbench. I use the feature reader transformer and specify the feature type to read to the attribute above (Id number). I have defined the directory and dataset is set to *.las. I’m having problems though when I run the work bench it doesn’t fetch the Las files. The attribute is defined as 70875_7620 so I tried 70875_7620.las and no deferens. THe transformer runs when I use the spatial intersection mode that’s way I figured out it must be the attribute. Any Ideas? Tofia :)

FileNamePartExtractor question

I am VERY new to FME. When using the FileNamePartExtractor, is there any way that the parameters for this transformer can be automatically populated at all? It seems like you have to input all the neccesary information manually: Source Filename: Directory Path Full Filename Root Filename Filename Extension Directory Name. It just seems it would easier to just rename the writer file by itself, than to input these manually each time you run it. So I must be missing something... jw

Best practice for reading xml with multiple occurrences

Hi All, I read data from online services, typically as XML. Untill now I've been a quite happy user of httpFetcher to download data and then xmlflattener or xmlfragmenter to digest them. This has worked pretty well for simple XML problems, but there are obvious limitations. I've cast my eyes on the xfMap documentation, in particular this piece of information: http://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME_ReadersWriters/Default.htm#xml/attribute_element_multipleValues.htm This seem to be exactly what I'm ready for to mature my crude XMLfragment-and-assemble (hardcoded for each particular application) into beautiful, generic methods. However, the more sophisticated use of xfMap seems to be tied to the "XML Reader" (which is just FME speak for "Insert Reader", then choose XML as format. Or is it?). The caveat: FME typically read things as the very first thing you do in a workspace. I, on the other hand, do quite a bit of processing to dynamically compose the l

clip a DTM using a not round boundary but export to rounded points

Dear all, i have the following problem: Using a DGN file i get different informations: - DTM points - Breaklines - a perimeter what I do: - interpolate / generate a DTM - clip this DTM using the boundary Result: What I get: - A XYZ file or ASCII grid where the coordinates are not rounded to the full meter (e.g. 423545.455). This is caused by the perimeter which is not rounded to full meters What I need: - The result should be a DTM with coordinated at the full metere, e.g. 423545.000 Is there any solution to tell FME that i want to export the DTM in a way that each DTM cell should be on straight coordintes? Fixing a solid geometry

I have a solid geometry from a DGN I am trying to load into Oracle, which works, but the geometry then fails the validation. Using the GeometryValidator transformer it tells me that there is an InvalidSolidBoundary although I am unable to fix it. So i have tried using various transfomers to decompose so I can at least view (and possibly fix), but none of the below work (i.e. I get 1 output from 1 input): Deaggregator (the fme_geometry is fme_aggregate, while fme_type is solid) Chopper CoordinateExtractor MulitpleGeometrySetter (returns invalid despite it being an aggregate, tested using aggregatefilter first) I am running FME Oracle Edition 2013 SP3, anyone got any ideas? On a related note, is there a definite list of which transformers accept 3D data as I ahven't been able to find anything... Dan

Dynamic Schema - Writing Error

Hi, Iam attempting to write data using dynaminc schema in a workspace, it fails with the following warning: Unexpected execution path. Please contact Safe Software A fatal error has occurred. Check the logfile above for details ... Last line repeated 2 times ... I am writing to ESRI geodatabase feature classes. When i disable the writers and run the workspace, everything works as it should do. I have used dynamic schema before succesfully and have tried many different variations of parameter setting but to no avail. Any help much appreciated! Thanks, Chris.

It is possible to import the different auto_layer names at once into the AttributeFilter?

The problem is that I have often AutoCAD files where I need only the content of certain Layer. When you open the AttributeFilter you see the list of the Possibe Attribute Values. And you see the Import Button. when you click this button 1. Step: Select Source DataSet (select the required dwg) 2 Step:.Select Feature Types --> here are the different Layer from the autocad file (autocad_layer) listed. This is what i want, but you cant import them 3. Step: Select Attributes. here you can select the normal attributes and format attributes. For Example autocad_linetype. Are there any other Transformers who coud do this? Or is it possible to transform the feature types (autocad_layer) into attributes?

Hi, I have started to use new writer format INSPIRE GML. I have also watched webinar on following subject recently. Since this is a first time I am working with mapping to INSPIRE schemas, I am a little bit dizzy with whole bunch of features and attributes. Still worst problem I have is with mapping geometry. I had to do a test with Hydro theme and featureType Crossing (geometry line). I used GeometryExtractor (GML 3.2.1. geometry encoding) for this purpose. Mapped '_geometry' to 'geometry' with AttributeCopier, but 'geometry' attribute is empty (missing) at the end. If i check the output values after GeometryExtractor with Inspector, there is a geometry value. So obviously I haven't mapped _geometry correctly with corresponding attribute on writer as Dean suggested in webinar (geometry attribute should be used for polygons only, correct?) I also mapped it with all possible xml_geometry datatype on writer, nothing. what do I do wrong?

Capturing Arrowhead Direction

Hi, I'm doing a CAD to GIS transformation of a telecommunication exchange and i'm looking to capture the arrowhead direction represented by the CAD arrows(they come across in FME as "autocad_block_name" ARROW), but when I filter them they come across as small line segments at the ends of the cable. In the end I need to be able to specify the number and location of arrowheads on a given piece of cable. If you have any ideas or need any additional information please let me know. Thanks. -Tim

Can FME 2014 64bit could be slower than FME 2013 32bit?

Hi, I just have installed FME 2014 64bit, and I think that translations are significantly slower than with my previous FME version (FME 2013 32bit). Am I the only one to notice that? Should I re-install FME 2013 32bit to compare time of running for both versions?

Converting Survey (Northing Easting) csv file into shp

Hello, I am wondering what coordinate system I should be using to convert a csv file of survey data to an ESRI shp file? The data looks like this: 135 5580767 458060.914 562.143 GF Columns 2,3,4 are Northing, Easting, Elevation. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers!

I have a workspace that uses the TwitterStatusFetcher to search one of our Corporate twitter accounts for Winter Gritting notices. This transformer has suddenly stopped working as of Jan 15th. Is this anything to do with Twitter restricting access to SSL/TLS traffic? Using FME 2013 at the moment but will upgrade to 2014 in the coming days.

DGN -> extrude -> DGN with solid shading

Dear all, My problem: I have a 3D DGN file with roofs. I would like to generate a 3D house model by extruding this roofs by -20m. This works pretty well until I export this result to a DGN file. Every building consists now of 2 closed shapes (roof and extruded bottom) and 4 lines connecting these shapes. What i would like to have is model with solid walls in the DGN file. I assume i have to generate surfaces to give them a "color/texture". But how do I do this? Thanks in advanced for the help! Best regards Thomas

Extracting XY from csv to shape

Hi, I've got an CSV file with 'hidden' XY in a column. It's like this: <gml:Point xmlns:gml="http://www.opengis.net/gml" srsName="urn:ogc:def:crs:EPSG::28992" srsDimension="2"><gml:pos>240664.000 488240.000</gml:pos></gml:Point> I want the two coordinates to be seperate columns in the new (point) shape. How do I do that? Thanks for any help!

Data loading to an existing feature class

Good morning to all I am running a process using schema mapper to load data into an existing feature class. The problem that I am seeing in the translation is that FME is generating extra attributes that are not part of the schema of the featureclass that I am When reviewing the log this is what I see: "Value of feature type parameter 'GEODB_OBJECT_ID_NAME' for table/feature class 'Bridge' has been changed from 'OBJECTID' to 'OBJECTID_1' as it conflicted with user field name. Value of feature type parameter 'GEODB_SHAPE_NAME' for table/feature class 'Bridge' has been changed from 'SHAPE' to 'SHAPE_1' as it conflicted with user field name." I added an attribute remover for the input files so that they didnt transfer over but I still get the OBJECT and OBJECT_1, SHAPE_Area1, SHAPE_Lenght1. Any thoughts?
