Calculation in a list

Hello,  I have a many objetcs with a list (LIST_A) with N elements and a list attribute ATTR_1, i would like to know a smart way to do a expression evaluation on ATTR_1 on all elements of the list (without doing list explode doing the calculation with expression evaluator and doing a list builder).  Thanks in advance.

Python in FME

I am trying to work on python script but not able to correctly get what exactly is required. I know how to use it in ArcGIS 10.0 (Xp machine). In ArcGIS, there are two options a) Pre logic script code d = {} def find_duplicates (valX , valY): d[( valX, valY)] = d.setdefault ( ( valX , valY) , -1) +1 return d[ ( valX , valY) ]  b)[Field_name] =  find_duplicates ( [X_Coordina] , [Y_Coordina]  But here in FME that type of Scripting is not working. Can anyone help me with the same. I used PythonCaller, PythonCreator, but didn't get the expected result. Is it possible to write ArcGIS type of python Scripting in FME?

regexp in stringsearcher

Hi all,   I have a question conserning regular expressions in the stringsearcher/replacer  transformers.  When i ue a attributecreator or eqquivalent and enter [regexp {.*:\\s*([\\w\\s\\W]*) } "@Value(Someattribute)"] then OTD Open verharding: gebakken klinkers will yield gebakken klinkers (i have to extract this match of course, but thats not the issue here..)  Using this same regexp in a stringsearcher or equivalent will not give a match.  Why is this.  Don't they use the same tcl?   Greetings Gio

Sine Inverse Calculation

Hi all,  Angle 37 Sine value is "0.60181502".  But I have "0.60181502" from this i need to find angle 37 in fme.  Please guide me  Thanks in advance

Edit Vertex Z value in polygon

I would like to change z value in a polygon for particular vertex is there any way in FME.  I have more than 1000 polygon.  3rd and 4th vertex z values are need to change.  Please guide me   Thanks in advance

Creating a road casement layer??

Hi all,  I would like to use FME to create a road casement layer.(MI Tabs) I have a parcel layer and boundary layer.I would like to create a layer where parcel layer doesn't cover the boundary layer.Like a cookie cutter.Can anyone help??

Oracle Spatial Index Creation

Is a spatial index required when reading a table/view using the Oracle Spatial Object reader?  Are there any transformers that require the existance of a spatial index?

Oracle query with FME

How does Dissolver compute average?

I am using dissolver to combine features, grouped by an attribute (SPC_CD). I need to average another attribute (PCNT_CVR).  I am confused by the results I am seeing because they don't apear to be either the mean or median.  I am also not clear about whether Dissolver computes the average for each individual set of overlapping (in this case I am using overlaps) features being dissolved, or does it compute the average for ALL features in a group (i.e. one average for each SPC_CD value)?  Thanks! katie

Reading & writing standard GRID format ESRI rasters

Hi,   i might be missing something fairly obvious, but i want to read standard ESRI GRID rasters into FME, work with them and write a single ESRI GRID raster. (Not DEM, GeoTIFF etc etc, just standard GRID).  Do i have to convert the GRID to ASCII in Arc before FME can read it? and is this the case for writing too?  thanks for any help

Dynamic attribute value renaming (adding a suffix)

Hi there,    Simply renaming a value is quite easy using the AttributeValueMapper, however, I'm completely stumped as to how I should go about this when the source value are dynamic.    To get into details:    What I need is very basic. For example, If I have a value like "ROAD" I want to rename that value (and all other present values) to something like "ROAD_X". So I simply want to add the suffix, "_X" to the existing value.    This would be simple if my source was not dynamic, in the sense that it simply points to a folder, and whatever's in there gets run through the workspace.    So, is it possible to add "_X" or something similair to an unknown value with ValueMapper, or any other transformer?    Thanks in advance,

Hi,   I'm trying to use the surface Draper to put the Z on 2 D lines of a dwg. I'm using as point / line an esriasciigrid .and I put the 2D lines as drape_features, but the lines continue 2D....  I need help...  Thanks,  Ana.

Best way to summarize attributes into report

What's the best work flow for dissolving attributes by name and writing to a report?  Currenlty I'm exporting to CSV with the fields I want but I want to dissolve by attribute first and list the number of dissolved features.    I've tried using the SummaryReporter but it doesn't really give me any flexability to customize the report.

Specifying WMS pixel size

Can I specify the pixel size when requesting an image from a WMS service? I'm using a Search evelope in the WMS reader then writing to a tiff file. The image I end up with has 14m pixels, but I would like 0.5m pixels, which is the full resolution of the Aerial Photography.

Big CSV to Raster files

Hello guys,  I have a big CSV file ( 1.3 Go) as an output of a modeling software. This CSV has 2 fields for Lat/Long and 145 more fields, each for a climate variable. I need to convert each variable in a raster, so 145 rasters, with a 500meters resolution (same as input resolution actually)  I tried with the 3D point replacer wich seems to work, but I have problems to set the NumericRasterizer and the ouput is just full of NoDataValues.  R is running out of memory while FME seems to do the job...good point !  Thanks !

Why I can not access OData in my FME desktop 2013?

I published an OData service from Composite Studio (from Composite Software). It is in ATOM format that FME Desktop 2013 supports.  I can see the http URL in browser but can not access it in FME reader. It does not give an error message. Renaming an input file

Hi there,  Slightly odd question that I think I know the anwser to but thought I'd just see if anyone out there has any bright ideas.  We have reader file that undergoes some transformations through a workspace, but what the customer wants to be able to do at the end of the workbench is bascially rename the file based on a new filename that has been generated through the process (but not modify the file in any way).  Is there anyway to do this?    I'm guessing not and already using AttributeFileWriter to write the name of the file out to a simple text file where I can wrap the workbench call up in a batch file where I can write some simple code to do the renaming there.  But if anyone can suggest a better way I'd love to hear it!  Cheers  Dan

Un-Exposed attributes still displaying FME2014

I have just downloaded FME 2014, when I edit the reader feature type properties and de-select the exposed user attributes, they still come through in the workbench.

Floating Point for Raster

Is it not possible to have a floating point value for raster cells? I tried to put 4.2 in the RasterCellValueReplacer and all of the values came out as 4.  Thanks

Can i somehow export a draped polygon to like Atocad?

I have a 3d generator in wich i have draped (and themed ) features on a mesh surface. These look great in inspector and 3dpdf. Smooth, color and everything. I write the set to a autocad file.  This because i want to set a persepctive and generate a poster. (for a promotional set of large high quality prints).  When i open the file in autocad it shows my draped surface only by its boundaries as a 3d polyline.  Anyone know how i keep my nice surfaces?  I dont want to smooth the mesh by resampling or anything, that would distort reality. (i have some smoothing due to tolerance setting in surfacebuilder, by 10cm) The mesh looks slightly crappy in autocad, and there is max limit to smoothing those in autocad wich also distorts reality.  Atm im trying to export the drapes as planar and use the autocad drape function to drpae it on the Dem export. Not succesfull yet though..   Or is it somehow possible to set a perspectiveview prior to outputting the files? So i could directly generate a jpg

FME 2014 - Issues with MapInfo TAB Writers

WIth the release of FME 2014, I notice that the MFAL writer for MapInfo tab has desappeared. We now have the MapInfo TAB (MAPINFO) and the MapInfo TAB (MITAB).  I have noticed that both writers are using MITAB.  See this log: 2014-02-03 15:24:49|   0.3|  0.0|INFORM|Using MapInfo (MITAB) Native Writer $Revision: 113523 $  We have a problems using polygon data created with MITAB. When opened in MapInfo, the nodes of those polygons cannot be snapped and features are deleted when performing geometric operations such Erase or Split.  We were always using MFAL writer because of those issues with MITAB. Why removing MFAL writer in FME 2014? Is Safe Software knowing such issues with MITAB?  Thank you for info on this topic.

Combine raster backdrop + point features to raster tile set

Hi, I have a set of raster tiles as .tif and accompanying .tab files, and a set of points (building numbers) which I want to superimpose on top of the raster layer, these are in .shp format. I want to combine both these layers to produce a set of raster tiles showing both – i.e. the original raster tiles as backdrop, the building numbers on top. I know FME can do this, I just don’t know how and my ‘experiments’ have not proved successful – could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks, Sue

Distinct values to export?

Hello all,  I'd like to export all unique values of multiple attributes without having to use an aggregator > attributerenamer > attributecreator.  What I've got: Table ID,COLOR,TYPE 1,Blue,Slide 2,Red,Slide 3,Green,Merry-go-round 4,Green,Slide  What I want my export to look like: COLUMN,VALUE,COUNT TYPE,Slide,3 TYPE,Merry-go-round,1 COLOR,Blue,1 COLOR,Red,1 COLOR,Green,2  Now I know I can achieve this with alot of DuplicateRemovers or Aggregators, but I've got 100+ columns like this... Is there any other way?   Thanks in advance.
