Question

Why can't I translate ArcGIS 10.5 layers into MapInfo using FME 64 bit?

I would like to try translating an ArcGIS layer file generated in ArcGIS 10.5 (32bit version) into MapInfo format using FME 64bit version however, the option is greyed out and the only reason I can relate this to is that the ArcGIS I am running is 32bit? Is there a way around this or should I try downloaded the FME 64bit version. I currently only have a trial license because I want to work out if this works before we buy a license. Regards Sandi

Hi @sandio,

The standard Geodatabase library installed by ArcGIS for Desktop is a 32-bit library and can only be accessed via a 32-bit application. If you are wanting to use Esri formats with FME 64-bit, you will need to enable 64 bit Background Geoprocessing for ArcGIS Desktop or have ArcGIS Pro installed.

Another alternative would be to use FME 32-bit to enable the Esri formats.

For more information on FME and Esri Version compatability, see this article here.

Happy FME'ing!
