Hi,

I need to read a SVG file but in FME, SVG  writer is present but no reader. Is there a way to read the SVG file. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sorry, it's only possible to Write SVG with FME http://www.safe.com/fme/format-search/. If its practical, you might have to consider using an online converter to translate the SVG file to another raster format like PNG that FME can read.
To add to Dave's answer: there seems to be some dedicated programs out there that can convert SVG to other vector based formats, such as DXF (here is one I found through Google, but have not experience with, so caveat emptor).

Might be an alternative to research further if you can justify the cost / effort in your project.

Hi,

I always use Inkscape to convert to dxf.

If needed you can restrucutre your svg by using layers.

Of course u need to georeference after export (using some GIS aplication, Q-GiS is open source).

Actually Q-gis can read and write svg, unlike fme (wich is a shame..;))

Never fails.

I got here because i was llokin if the was a reader for svg yet..btw)
