Question

KML to SHP does not find any attributes, even though in GIS software it is found.

I am trying to change a large KML (4.4million points- 4gb) into SHP format and the output shows the polygons but the attributes are not found. Even in the reader it does not find them, nor in the attribute exposer. I know they are there though as a colleague managed to do in GIS software, my laptop however is not powerful enough to do this method.

Hi @geodesic12,

When adding the KML file to your workspace, please check that the reader parameter Scan Schema is set to Yes.

If this doesn't expose the attributes, you can expose them manually in the AttributeExposer. To see the attribute names, you can view the KML file in the Data Inspector, then examine a point or two in the Feature Information window.

@DaveAtSafe found it when viewing the KML in the Data Inspector- all the attributes were in one attribute in KML_name so now I just need to split this- thanks
