I have shp files with dbf exceedig 5GB each. While using fme to open it and proces I'm getting an error. I'm using FME 64 2018.1 on windows 64b. The dbf format specifies at maximum file size of 2 GB, so the file you're trying to open either doesn't follow the standard or is relying on something weird to make it "work".
You may want to forward this issue to Safe support to see if there's a workaround.
