Hello, I just upgraded to FME Form 2025.1.2 and am having a problem with the Google Sheets Reader. The Reader previously worked in FME 2024.x, but I am now getting a very ambiguous error whenever I try to read a sheet into a workspace. I literally just upgraded this morning after initially opening the workspace in Form 2024 and successfully running it, so I know nothing has changed on my computer or anything otherwise. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Hi @smithgk! I wasn’t able to get the same error as you, but I was able to get the Google Sheet V4 Reader working in 2025.1.2.

A few things I did which I’m not sure you did as well,

  1. Go to my Web Connections> Google Sheets (safe.google-sheets) and Sign in with Google to reauthenticate
  2. Used the spreadsheet URL for the Google Sheet parameters instead of the Spreadsheet name
  3. Alternatively, I was able to get it working in an older version by creating a new web connection in the Reader’s connection parameter

I’m curious if those would work for you. I also looked into the packages dialog. I also didn’t get a notification to upgrade my package, but it looks like I was already updated to the current version.

When you go into FME Packages and Google Sheets, is the Update button also grayed out?

It’s still possible there is a bug or enhancement but with more information from your set up we would get a clearer picture!

It could be a bug, I downgraded to 2025.0.2 and things seem to be working okay now.

I didn’t try it, but I maybe should have uninstalled/reinstalled the Google Sheets package to Form 2025.1.2 when I first upgraded. For whatever reason, FME did not ask me to reinstall that package when I upgraded to 2025.1.2, but it did ask me to reinstall when I downgraded to 2025.0.2

@desiree_at_safe thank you for following up! I re-upgraded to 2025.1.2 from 2025.0.2, checked all the places you indicated, and now it works great. I’m not totally sure what went wrong the first time I tried the install, but everything seems to be working great for me now. Thanks again!
