We are using FME 2021 and planning to bump postgres version to 14.

Are there known issues with that combination?

I have tried to find a compatibility sheet for FME Desktop/Server and Postgres and/or other Software, but did not succeed.

Not an answer, but I've also been missing such a compatibility sheet on multiple occasions. @mark2atsafe Is this something that you could champion internally?

@dollargis It would be a good idea to have a compatibility sheet. I have been using Postgresql 14 for quite a while and have not encountered any issues with FME.

Hi folks. I've raised the idea of a compatibility sheet/page. I hope it gets implemented. It would be useful.

In regards to postgres 14, we did manual testing and can confirm it all works well with FME 2022 and 2023. Given that, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't suitable for 2021 as well.

The actual versions tested were PostgreSQL 14.4 and PostGIS 3.2.1

Hi @mark2atsafe

Have you created that compatibility sheet for different versions of PostgreSQL/ FME Form?

It is needed :)

Best regards

@felipeverdu, @dollargis, @david_r  Hi there, I may be able to offer a bit of guidance on this topic, at least in terms of PostgreSQL version 14.

In looking at the version of the code library that our PostgreSQL support depends on, it looks like FME 2021 could reasonably be expected to support PostgreSQL versions 9.6 - 13. PostgreSQL version 14 might see partial support, but its newer functionality would not be expected to be fully supported in FME 2021.

For FME 2022.2 starting at build 22752, we upgraded the code library which supports the PostgreSQL functionality, and this upgraded version would be expected to offer compatibility with PostgreSQL up to and including version 14.

If you plan to connect to PostgreSQL databases via JDBC connection, you would also need to ensure that the version of the PostgreSQL JDBC driver in use is compatible with your target PostgreSQL database version. The version of this driver that shipped with FME 2021.2 would not be expected to offer such compatibility with PostgreSQL version 14, but the version of this driver that shipped with FME 2022.0+ should offer compatibility with PostgreSQL database version 14. This would also, of course, require Java 8 or newer.

I hope the above offers some helpful information related to PostgreSQL version 14 support in FME. Let us know if you have any follow-up questions! I will be sure to also put some support behind our producing a document outlining FME - PostgreSQL compatibility (maybe something similar to our Notes on FME and Esri Versions and Compatibility article?)
