Error connecting FME Desktop to ArcGIS Online

I am trying to connect FME desktop to ArcGIS Online. Taking hint from the article in this url, the networks team whitelisted www.arcgis.com and also bypassed authentication. Attached is the image showing the steps carried out by them (for people with knowledge of proxy/firewall). I have rubbed out some parts.

I have been able to create Web Connection however unable to retrieve data from AGOL. I get the error file attached agol_fme_error.txt when trying to fetch Feature Service in the AGOL in Esri AGOL Feature Service Parameters dialog box.

I didn't mention filtering to the networks team before carrying out the work. Could it be a reason? Any other suggestions are welcome.

Extra information:

a. FME Desktop 2018 64bit

b. Able to login to AGOL in web browsers

c. Able to connect to AGOL via ArcGIS desktop v 10.6

Thanks in advance

Good morning all,

Finally the issue has been sorted. The following URLs needs to be supplied for proxy authentication bypass. These were provided by ESRI UK.

https://*.arcgis.com, https://*.arcgisonline.com, https://ago-item-storage.s3.amazonaws.com, https://*.blob.core.windows.net, https://*.esri.com

Hope it helps others too.

Thanks

You should obscure the token in your file.

We've seen this issue in the past (and are working with esri on issues related to their stack not scaling properly). It seems to be mainly caused by ArcGIS Online and the cluster (hive) that you're on not scaling properly and having hardware issues maintaining connections. Try again at different times and it should work.

Hi @vsgurung , Can you please confirm your FME Desktop 2018 build number?

Can you try with the latest 2018.1?

I believe you guys are using PAC file to configure the proxy. Can you add the following mime type to your script?

 application/x-ns-proxy-autoconfig

If you have any other mime type specified can you let you know what is that?

Hi @rahulsharma, I am using FME 2018.1.0.0 build 18520. Indeed the proxy is using PAC files. I will ask the network team if they  can add the mime type line to the script. If it doesn't have any adverse effect on the security they may accept it.

Thanks

Hi @runneals, will try as you suggested. Thanks
