I've had great and amazing success translating objects into the model space of an Autocad drawing but I've been asked to also setup the paper space. Does FME support creating new paper spaces and inserting the viewports?

I have information for where the viewports should point to in model space and the paper space can be easily defined with a block and standard page size so I don't have to get FME to generate any layout information, just insert the relevent objects into the file.

FME cannot currently create new Layouts, but it can populate any Layouts already existing in the template DWG file with graphics and viewports. I have created a preliminary article detailing how to create surrounds and viewport in Layouts, which you can find at https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/34345/working-with-autocad-layouts.html

Thankfully this is almost exactly what I need. Looks like as long as my template has more layouts than my system will ever create I can just assign them starting from the first and count up. As I already have geometry in the model space for where the viewports should be your example should allow me to make it appear like the entire layout space was auto populated. Thanks so much!

Hi @DaveAtSafe. Has FME 2017 got any upgrades according to mentioned case? Does something change with creating new Layouts?

Hi @arekpierchala. We are working on the ability to create layouts, but this is not yet available in FME 2017.
