Hi,

Into an Esri ArcGIS Portal Feature Service Writer sending data to ArcGIS Portal what is the difference between Publishing and Spatial.

There is nothing about Spatial in the documentation.

Thanks.

Hi @philippeb,

What version and build of FME are you using?

I haven’t been able to find this “Spatial” tab in any version of FME that I’ve checked, nor in the documentation (including previous years’ documentation). I also wonder if it’s a dynamic field that popped up because of what you’re trying to write with it, though that doesn’t explain why it’s not mentioned in the documentation.

It might also help if you’re able to share a full screenshot of your writer.

I’m using 2025.2.1

In a Portal writer, in parameters.

Hi @philippeb

Thanks for confirming! I see the Spatial tab in that version and build of FME. The ArcGIS Portal Feature Service writer was officially replaced by the Esri ArcGIS Feature Service writer in I believe 2024.0 (you can find more info on this in our Working with Esri ArcGIS Feature Services in FME article). In the documentation for that Esri ArcGIS Feature Service writer, you’ll find information on that Spatial tab at the very bottom of the page. Basically, it looks like the purpose of the Spatial tab is to provide users with a way to override and set an output coordinate system (in the case where it may be different from the input). In most cases you probably don’t need to worry about setting something in that field.

I hope this helps!
