Has anyone already added the following coordinate systems to FME:
For Bonaire: EPSG:10759 (2D) or EPSG:10764 (3D)
For Saba: EPSG:10641 (2D) or EPSG:10645 (3D)
For St. Eustatius: EPSG:10745 (2D) or EPSG:10747 (3D)

Name, description and source are only for the interface (I assume), so I kept that at “Bonaire2D” for name and description and epgs.io for source. Wasn’t sure about group so left it empty and quadrant I left at the default. EPSG number is the one you mentioned, 10759.

I’m assuming that apart from the quadrant these parameters are mostly “cosmetic” and an error or incorrect value would not have any major consequences.

If you have the coordinate system parameters you can use this web service to have FME create the defintiion.

Thanks Hans for your reply.
I had already found this site, and I have all kinds of information about the coordinate system, but it's not entirely clear to me where I'm supposed to enter what.
That's why I was hoping someone had already created one.

Can you share what you’ve found so far?

You can find info here:

Bonaire: https://epsg.io/10759

Saba: https://epsg.io/10641

St. Eustatius: https://epsg.io/10745

I hope there is enough info on these pages.

There should be. On that page you can (if you click trough all the popups and scroll down) find the ESRI WKT description of the coordinate system:

PROJCS["Bonaire_DPnet", GEOGCS["Bonaire", DATUM["Bonaire", SPHEROID["International_1924",6378388.0,297.0]], PRIMEM["Greenwich",0.0], UNIT["Degree",0.0174532925199433]], PROJECTION["Transverse_Mercator"], PARAMETER["False_Easting",23209.56], PARAMETER["False_Northing",21423.99], PARAMETER["Central_Meridian",-68.2518022805556], PARAMETER["Scale_Factor",1.0], PARAMETER["Latitude_Of_Origin",12.180658675], UNIT["Meter",1.0]]

This has all of the relevant information the form asks for:

  • Referenced against the International 1924 Ellipsoid
  • Transverse Mercator projection
  • False easting and northing
  • Central meridian
  • Latitude of origin
  • Units of measure

When I enter all of that in the form it sends me 2 files which I unpack in the Documents\FME folder. After a restart of FME this coordinate system shows up in my coordinate system list, but twice and when I want to see its properties, FME crashes.

@daveatsafe you've previously responded in topics like this. Am I overlooking something? I would have thought that pasting the WKT in the form would then not require me to fill in all of the other parameters (which are in the WKT) again.

Hans,

Thank you so far.
What did you enter in:
- Name
- Description
- Source
- Group
- Quadrant
- EPSG Number

The other points are clear.

I also though the WKT would be enough to make this.

The Custom Coordinate System page will try to interpret the Esri WKT to fill in the subsequent form. Please ensure that the Esri WKT has no carriage returns in it, as this will cause the interpretation to fail.

Hi Dave,

There is no carriage return in the WKT, but still it doesn't work automatically.

The WKT is:

PROJCS["Saba DPnet",GEOGCS["Saba",DATUM["Saba",SPHEROID["International 1924",6378388,297],TOWGS84[1138.7432,-2064.4761,110.7016,-214.615206,479.360036,-164.703951,-402.32073]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0,AUTHORITY["EPSG","8901"]],UNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9122"]],AUTHORITY["EPSG","10636"]],PROJECTION["Transverse_Mercator"],PARAMETER["latitude_of_origin",0],PARAMETER["central_meridian",-63],PARAMETER["scale_factor",0.9996],PARAMETER["false_easting",29973.97],PARAMETER["false_northing",-1947925.94],UNIT["metre",1,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9001"]],AXIS["Easting",EAST],AXIS["Northing",NORTH],AUTHORITY["EPSG","10641"]]
