Anyone have some tips working with FME moving detailed buildingdata to and from 3D Studio Max?

What excatly do you mean by "detailed building data"?

The most important advice I can give to you is to keep your data lcated around 0/0/0. 3D Studio Max is based upon single precision, which meant that you'll have a precision of slightly better than 1 mm at a maximum distance of 10 000m from axis-origin. Data that exceeds this limit will be permanently rounded by 3D Studio Max! So use an Offsetter in FME to avoid this issue!

A suitable container for transferring data from FME to Max ist the FBX format, which is an interchange format produced by Autodesk to enable data exchange between 3D programs.
