So I was testing the 2025.1 Beta and was curious to try the new DocumentPDFStyler after seeing it mentioned in Seattle a few weeks ago at The Peak of Data and AI 2025. This caught my eye and I cannot find anything about this new “Safeguard”. What is it and why are the run icons disabled and not the same as other transformers (ex: Run from this, run to this...)?

@dbaldacchino1 My wild guess: accidental deletion of the installed fme package?

Weird, I responded but it went to a moderator instead of posting here...

@raghavendrans No, I just installed it. The behavior is different in the beta vs. the stable release. It is somewhat related to feature caching and if “Safeguard” is disabled, it auto-runs. I believe I heard something related to this during the Seattle conference so probably only available in packaged transformers. Would love to hear more details from Safers about this as there’s no documentation. I feel the name is a bit weird plus the missing run buttons is throwing me off! :)

Great speculations in this thread! 😊 The Safeguard is related to an improvement we’re making to how caching works in FME. The full update will be available in 25.1, and I’m looking forward to hearing everyone’s feedback once it’s out.
