My FME 2015 saved workspaces would not open in FME 2016. FME 2016 just crashes anytime to do that. why is this so?

That isn't normal behavior.
Try reinstalling the latest version of FME 2016. If that does not work, you should send a workspace to reproduce this error to your FME reseller or Safe support.
