When I open an “old” FME workspace in FME 2024 I get the following confusing dialog:

attributes unsupported

It is related to a Bufferer and what I want to do is use fme_geometry in a subsequent Tester to find out if the feature has become a donut.

So I wondered if “fme_geometry” is deprecated, but it doesn’t seem so.

What is this all about ? What are disabled attributes ? If I leave them enabled: why can I do so ? Who disables the attribute ?

I use FME for 20 years now and I am completely confused.

Hi Michael, I’m guessing that fme_geometry was exposed by default long ago and a transformer after the Bufferer is looking for that attribute?  I haven’t seen this error message.  If an AttributeExposer doesn’t work-around the problem for you then please submit a ticket.  Thanks

The message “workspace contains disabled attributes which are no longer supported” is somewhat misleading. If I can leave them enabled, then what is no longer supported ? fme_geometry obviously is not deprecated. I have not read anything about what is deprecated in FME 2024 which makes sense here.

disabled attributes are no longer supported ??? I don’t know what to do with this. I enable attributes sometimes in a reader when i need them.

So if I miss out on some new concept related to attributes, please let me know where this is explained in more detail.

I simply don’t know what I should say in a bug report what is going wrong here.

Hi Michael, just submit a bug report with your workspace and log file and a link to this post.  Thanks!
