Question

data download with excel template

Hello,

I have a workspace that updates an existing excel template.

When publishing it to a data download service, it writes the excel file, but doesnt use the file specified in the writer.

I know this is because the data download writes to a temp location, not the writer output folder - is there anyway to force it to use a template?

hi owen,

see http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/How_To/Data-Download-Service-Writing-to-a-template-ESRI-File-Based-Geodatabase

this is working for me and personal geodatabases.

set the file_copy writer to D:\\ and the excel writer to d:\\myexcelfile.xls, after you have registered the workbench with the download service D:\\ should be replaced with the temp download path on both writers and hey presto your template is in the download directory for your writer to connect too.

regards,

Nick
