Adding transformers from FME store fails

Forum|alt.badge.img
Dear FME community,

when I try to connect to the FME store, it always fails to load the transformers. I can see what transformers are available, but there is no way to add them.

I get's the following message for example (see also the attachment):

"Could not download 'PythonEmailer'-

A problem was encountered while trying to download from FME store."

In the network settings menue I have set the option to "Use system proxy setting" and I also have writing permissions in my FME installation folder.

Is there anything what I can do to load the transformers from store?

Kind regards

Thomas

Just to let you know that this issue was marked as fixed by our developers. It was fixed in build 15571. I don't know when the next upload will be, but I suspect it will be build 15572 and it will be uploaded probably today or tomorrow.

Hi,

I found the same message in FME 2015.1.3 build 15570, but it didn't appear with 2015.0 and 2016.0 beta. Looks like it's an issue specific to 2015.1.3. Which version are you using?

In the interim, try downloading transformers from the FME Store site.

Hi

I have also seen this bug, and it has been reported to Safe.

Downloading the custom transformer and manually copying the files into the <My Documents>\\FME\\Transformers and restarting FME Desktop works, though.

David

I'm using a 64bit FME 2015.1.0.2 (Build 15482) on WIN64. Guess I will try it with the manuell download of the transformer then. Many thanks for the help!

I have the same problem on my system. This morning i did install the latest build 15573. But the problem is still the same: "Could not download 'Transformer name'. Any suggestions?

Have you tried copying any random file into <My Documents>\\FME\\Transformers ?

That would exclude the authorization failure.

The fix for that known issue was definitely in build 15571 (or higher) so it doesn't sound like it could or should be the same problem. Can you try checking your network settings (as the original poster did) and if that doesn't help please contact the support team for more assistance (http://safe.com/support)

It doesn't appear to be fixed in 2015.1.3.1 (20151117 - Build 15573 - macOS). No message that I see. Just doesn't work. I am reluctant to change my proxy settings. I will if another mac user can confirm that it is fixed. I also tried downloading from the FME store but the transformers I downloaded are .fmx files and in the MacOS version they are ,htm files. They don't appear to work. Does anyone know a fix to use these in MacOS version?

this appear random on 2016.1 also, yesterday i could download from FME Store, but today it fails.

It works in FME 2014 just tried it now. This seems to be a general buggy FME store download that persists from 2015 onwards

"There was an error downloading the latest version of PythonEmailer. Using already downloaded version instead".

tried on 2014

Connecting to FME Store...

Successfully connected to FME Store.

Downloading 'AzimuthCalculator.fmx'...

Successfully downloaded 'AzimuthCalculator.fmx' to 'C:\\Users\\rudvog\\AppData\\Roaming\\Safe Software\\FME\\FME Store\\Transformers\\AzimuthCalculator.fmx'.

Hi @rudy_v, perhaps you could also inform Safe about it. Hope there will be a solution for it soon.

Best wishes,

Thomas

FME 2016 and beyond is not very proxy aware, and sometimes fails on connecting to store. In our network we have a firewall and proxy, and for some reason FME gets confuse with the proxy, and bypass it completely and tries to connect through the firewall, and therefore are blocked

Hi All,

FME Desktop still does not work downloading from FME store, tested on 2016.1.2.1 and 2017 beta. It seems that sometimes it uses the proxy and it works, but most of the time it seems not to be aware of the proxy and tries to connect through the firewall, which is blocked

I know the workaround is to copy to the custom folder, but this is been an issue since 2015, works well in 2014

Come on safe please fix

OK, since this is an older question I'm unsure as to how many people are still experiencing problems.

So... I created an 'idea' here. If you have problems connecting to the FME store/hub then please upvote that idea and leave a message about the problem.

Also it's a good idea to contact the Safe support team (safe.com/support) to formally register the issue. Currently I see no reports filed with the developers, so they will be unaware of any problems.

Hi Mark,

A formal support call has been logged with safe, regarding FME connecting to the hub store. I find it a bit strange that nobody has flagged this an issue. Currently i think FME desktop and or Server does not work well with proxy servers 2016+. It worked perfectly in version 2014. Currently if you use 2016 it sometimes uses the proxy then the sore works OK, but in most cases it goes directly to the firewall, without even using proxy at all, and then it fails (blocked). It should use the proxy all the time.

this has not been fixed, still persist in 2016.1 and in beta of 2017
