How do you switch your licensing between 32bit and 64bit FME Desktop 2016.1?

It is my understanding that only one of the desktop versions can be licensed at a time.

So how can I stop the license activation of FME desktop 32bit so I can switch the license to FME desktop 64bit on my PC?

You shouldn't have to do that. Just install 64bit FME into a different directory and you can run it immediately using the same license as before. The license differentiates between "editions" (Professional, Database, Server, etc) but not 32/64 bit type.
