PDFStyler Parameters (styling 2D points)

Hi everyone,  I'm using the PDFStyler to create an interactive geospatial PDF where users can click on a point to launch a photo in a separate viewer.  I've managed to get this to work, but would like to customise the PDF slightly.    The main issue is how can I get the points to be a larger?  At the moment they are very small and I can't see an obvious parameter to change.  Buffering the point first doesn't help.  Also, any pointers on how I can insert things like a title into the PDF and make it appear above the map?  Here's my parameters:    Here's my PDF:  http://db.tt/7DVGGRjc  Any help would be much appreciated!  Amit

3D geometry to Oracle

Hello all.   I am reading a CAD file with 2d geometry, however in a certain moment I force it to 3d  geometry with 0 as z value, after that, I am trying to write to Oracle Spatial Object, but what returns is - The geometry type `3002' is not understood by the Oracle Spatial writer . Would you know what is happens? There is a relation with the version 11g?   Thanks in Advance.

FME 2013 and null values

Hello!  Im someway aware of the problem FME has with handling the NULL-values (http://evangelism.safe.com/fmeevangelist89/). My question is: how is it possible to write NULL values when dealing with ESRI geodatabases?   I have noticed that FME 2013 has an option in AttributeValueMapper transformer to set destination value to Null. Still, it does'nt  seem to work. Running the workspace gives me warnings like: FileGDB Writer: The `kood' attribute could not be written. The containing feature has been dropped.  The field 'kood' is smallint type and declared to allow NULL values.   So the general question is: is it at all possible to set attribute values to NULL inside FME and subsequently write NULL values to geodatabase?   Thank you, Raivo  Estonian Land Board

Does the hidden attributes really have to pass through the pointonareaoverlayer?!

Hi!  Yesterday, a college of mine and I, struggled with a funky workspace.  It is wery simple: An area in TAB-format. A list of XY coordinates. A 2Dpointcreator and a pointonareaoverlayer. The points inside the area is written to a TAB-file destination.  Somehow, the points inherits the hidden attributes from the area(eg mapinfo_type=polygon) and will be considered to be corrupt geometry by the writer! The fme_type value of the features is naturally "point".  Does the hidden attributes really have to pass through the pointonareaoverlayer?!  I didnt find it intuitive that is is...  What do you think?  Greetings from Go:teborg! Håkan

Use AttributeSplitter with a Carriage Return

I am trying to split text features that contain a carriage return into two separate pieces of text so I can better control the spacing between the text lines.  I can use a StringSearcher to find the text using the \\r variable.  However, when I try to the use the \\r in the AtrributeSplitter, it will not split it into two separate list elements.  I am using FME2012.

Pointonareaoverlayer

I'm trying to use the PointOnAreaOverlayer.  I have a point file, and an area file that I have to run thru an attribute prefixer first.  The output from the attributeprefixer is then used as input to the overlayer.  Looking at the log, the overlayer is actually starting before the prefixer starts, so my spatial join does not work.    Any suggestions?

Can anyone out there explain scripted python parameters to me?

I've read everything out there on scripted parameters in FME (which is not much) and none of it has helped me.  I'm trying to have an AttributeRenamer, where the Attribute List is a scripted python parameter, a fairly simple one at that.  Say, my original field is "ONE_AAA". (but it could be "TWO_AAA", "THREE_AAA", etc).  I want it to rename it to just "AAA", so I have a this python script:   fld = FME_MacroValues['Test_Condition_1'] suffx = fld[(fld.find("_")+1):fld.__len__()] return fld + ',' + suffx + ',""'    'Test_Condition_1' is simply a published parameter that the user enters to let FME know what field he wants renamed.  I've linked this python scripted parameter to the Attribute List and it does not work.  Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Line Intersect

Hi all,  perhaps this is a very simple question but I can't find the solution. I need to intersect two line feature classes, obtaining as a result only the intersecting line portions. This is the Overlay->Intersect tool in ArcGIS, but I can't find an equivalent transformer in FME. I tried the LineToLineOverlay  but it overlays all input lines, without distinguish between input and overlay features.  Thanks

How to send files from 1 workspace to another

I have a scenario with 3 chained workspaces on FME Desktop. Ie the user starts workspace 1, which starts workspace 2, which starts workspace 3. Workspace3 uses data (from a large textfile) that is generated in workspace.  At the end the user gets some files created in workspace 2 (PDF and TXT) and some files generated in workspace 3 (TIF).  When I try to port this to FMEServer I struggle to send links to the files to download between multiple workspaces. Any workaround to this issue? I can not make 1 workspace instead of 3, due to the fact that I have to process completely different based on the writing to PDF / TXT from workspace 2.

Output multiple transparent WMS-images on a PDF?

Hi Im trying to put together a PDF map using different WMS sources. Setting the option TRANSPARENT=TRUE in the getmap requests, then using imageFetcher to retrieve images. And finaly I use PDF geospatial writer.  Result is multiple layers in the PDF, but however no transperancy.. I have tried using both PNG/GIF. It would be awesome if you have some suggestion.  Best regards

Workpace statistics

Hello, is there a way to know some stats about a workspace, such as the number of transformers used (including customs), the number of feature type, etc...  My workspace is quite huge... I can't count manually...  Thanks, Johann

Label Creation

Hi I want to create labels for facility buildings with their respective names. I can use label point replacer to create these but the trouble is the labels are overlapped. If I want to assign offset when overlap occurs how can I do that? Also, is there any way I can introduce carriage return say after every two words and create labels based on that? Thanks in advance. Regards Surag

Use Persistent Cache- FME Universal Viewer Vs Data Inspector

Hello, In FME Universal Viewer, there is an option "Use persistent Cache" available to the user to save data in the local file system for subsequent use, such as in situations in which access to the data is over a low-bandwidth link, access is not available at all or the dataset is very large.  Is this option available in Data Inspector? Regards SRG

ArcGISonline post/get data

Hi,  I want to download data from our companys ArcGIS online account.  We have guys in the field editing, I want to download their field work, process it, post it back for them to review.   I am not familiar with both "getting" and 'posting" data sources on the web or the lingo eg REST, SOAP etc. I tried the WFS reader and couldnt get the correct settings.  Any help aimed at a novice would be much appreciated  cheers Brian

Point Problems...

I am in the process of converting a whole bunch of regions to points via the "InsidePointReplacer".  I am writing to a MapInfo TAB file so even if there are polygons remaining it shouldn't matter (geometry: <ALL>).  But I'm getting some weird 'warnings' when I run it.  FME warns:  2012-12-19 13:03:57| 15.5| 0.0|WARN |=========================================================================== 2012-12-19 13:03:57| 15.5| 0.0|WARN |Below feature has too few coordinates -- a region feature needs more than 3 coordinate pairs 2012-12-19 13:03:57| 15.5| 0.0|WARN |+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 2012-12-19 13:03:57| 15.5| 0.0|WARN |Feature Type: `Points'  But you can clearly see that it has already determined that it is a point.  I even tried using a GeometryCoercer to convince the writer that they are points.  No luck.  So then it says that:   2012-12-19 13:04:06| 22.5| 0.0|WARN |Rejected 21781 feature(s) d

Xquery and FME

A while ago, I posted a question about rendering maps using FME and I was shown the Cartopgrahic Rendering Tricks webinar done by Dotted Eyes.  I'm currently working on reproducing this (amoungst other things), but I've run into a bit of a snag when attempting to fill in the correct polyline symbol.  The information on the polyline is stored in an XML file, but I don't know Xquery well enough to phrase the command correctly.  The current query is    doc(Standard_Style_1.xml)/StandardStyle1/ColourPolygonStyles/g[id = coniferousTreeFillSymbol]  which returns    |AreaSymbolizer_XQueryExtractor_StandardStyle1_ColourPolygonStyles_g_id__coniferousTreeFillSymbol__(XQueryFactory): The following error occurred near line 1, column 5 of the query:    12 14:19:30|  36.7|  0.0|WARN  |AreaSymbolizer_XQueryExtractor_StandardStyle1_ColourPolygonStyles_g_id__coniferousTreeFillSymbol__(XQueryFactory): evaluation of an expression relies on some part of the dynamic context that has not been

FME Challenge: Count the maximum number of non overlapping circles!

Hi all,  I've a very interesting FME challenge. Any ideas and suggestions how to solve this are very welcome.  I've some parcels with irregular shapes and I want to know the maximum of circles (with a radius of 2,5 meter, diameter is 5m)) can be placed inside these parcels without overlap of the circles and without crossing the parcel boundaries. Below you can see what I mean:  The green polygones are the irregular shaped parcels. I would like to know the maximum number of black cirkels that fit in each of the parcels.   Some remarks: - The solution I'm looking for doesn't have to be exact, but should be a good estimation. - The solution doesn't need to give me the circles (but it would be nice), but just the number of circles is fine as well  I have already some ideas, but some good extra suggestions are welcome. - My first idea would be something like this: 1) create regular grid with circles with radius of 2.5 m, but spaced 1 by 1 m (so overlapping) 2) select all

MultiLine Labels

I have a situation where I would like to label buildings based on three attributes,(label1, label2, label3) and I would like to label them on seperate lines.  I successfully did this using the the TextAdder transformer in addtion to the Offsetter Transformer but I had to use three of each.... is their a way of  completing this task using a constant within the Editor parameters so I didn't have to use 1 transformer per label.  For example in GeoMedia you can use NewLine Label1NewlineLabel2NewlineLabel3

Calculate values of raster cells?

Hello,  I have a raster input that has cell values ranging from 0 - 255 (unsigned 8 bit).  What I want to do is twofold:  1. All values ranging from 0 - 250 need to be devided by 2.5 rounded up/down so that those values range from 0 - 100 instead. 2. The values above 250 need to get other values, for instance 255 needs to  become 251.   I don't mind assigning every value individualy i.e: 250 --> 100 249 --> 99 etc..  I just want to know if it's possible to do this. The only way I found was first creating a shape file out of the raster file and then using an attribute value mapper on the shape file going back to raster. Feature Class extraction

  Does anybody know how to extract information from one feature class and output as a new Feature Class ?  (I am pulling from an SQL database for GeoMedia to place into a GeoMedia access database)    Example: I have a Water network (feature class) with two attributes with the following options    Status: conceptual, proposed, in service  and  Owner: City, Other    I want to extract all the IN SERVICE pipes that are of type CITY.  Does anybody know the write transformer that would produce these results?

CAD to GIS

Below is a question that was posted to the US DoT GIS User community.  I thought that the FME Community may be able to provide some insight:  Hi all,  We have some projects going right now working to harvest CAD data to feed our growing enterprise asset management system.  We are running into issues with being able to carry some sort of identifier for each feature (culvert, sign, etc.) coming out of a design plan and into a database where we can add addition business data without manual editing. My questions are twofold. First we are looking to talk to any of you that have a process where Microstation users can push a button that kicks off a process using FME (or any other kind of macro) to pull information out of CAD and into Oracle or SQL.   Second, we would like to be able to attach/imbed some sort of feature ID/key to a feature in Microstation that can be extracted into a table with that feature geometry and used as a key field to attach to a table with business data.  We have a so

Is it possible to transfer a parameter in a URL

Hi, I am wondering if it possible to pass a parameter value to a workbench on FME Server in a URL?  For example a user clicks on a link from an asset in the GIS which launches FME Server and passes the unique asset ID as a parameter for the workbench file to run against.  Hope that makes sense lol.

Passing user parameter to a transformer

Hi all,  I have a query I hope someone will be able to answer.  I am creating a workbench to load up to FME Server and I want the user to select a site from a drop down list (which I have been able to do) and then I need to pass the users selection to a buffer transformer.  How do you pass the users selection to the buffer transformer?  Many thanks in advance.
