aggregator removes overlapping parts in FME?

Hello, Does anyone know this question? When I do the clip operation of two polygon layers, invalid geometry error rises. And after my test, I knew it's the aggregator operation generates some self-intersection problems. In my test, I generate a Polygon Layer which contains some small polygons, and some are overlapped(here we name it as Layer A), then I use dissolve operation in ArcGIS to dissolve these polygons(here we name it as Layer B), next I use the aggregator operation in FME to aggregator all polygons(here we name it as Layer C). Then I check geometry for Layer B and Layer C. Layer B is ok, having no genometry problems, whereas the Layer C has self-intersection problem. And when I look into Layer B and Layer C, I found that in Layer B, all the polygons is dissolved, including those overlapping parts. However, in Layer C, those overlapping parts are ignored. A point was encountered that was enclosed in more than one polygon

hello, I need help seriously~ I have two polygon layers, one is a layer containing many countries (here I name it Country Layer), another contains a multi-part polygon which represents protected areas (here I name it Protected Layer, and this is the result of Aggregator operation of many polygons represnt protected areas in FME)~ My purpose is to clip the Country Layer to the Protected Layer to get protected areas in each country (In Clipper operation of FME, the clipper is my Country Layer, the clippee is my Protected Area)~ In my data processing of clipper, sometimes it does work, but sometimes it fails(Because I have serveral layers of protected area represnting different years, and several Country Layers to represent different types of countries ). The Major Error is Invalid Topology, but I don't know what it exactly means: which rule it violates? Because before this operation, I have used Check geometry and Repair geometry in ArcGIS to avoid some errors such self-intersec

How to stop RasterToPolygonCoercer from aggregating cells into larger polygons when neighboring cell values are the same?

It seems that by default that RasterToPolygonCoercer transformer joins polygons if they have the same value as the neighbouring cell, as seen below: And there seems to be no option in the RasterToPolygonCoercer to stop it from doing this. What is the simplest way I can fix or avoid this aggregation of cells to larger polygons - either by using a different transformer(s) to coerce the raster, or by further processing the polygon output?

Data Inspector will not open

Hi, I have been outputting to FME Data Inspector quite intensively over the last 2 days and now it has stopped opening even though the workbench is running successfully. I have tried the solutions mentioned in this post: http://fmepedia.safe.com/AnswersQuestionDetail?id=906a0000000cnQMAAY Ie: I have purged inside FME and deleted all I could out of the FME temp folder on the C drive. When I change the options to output to FME Universal Viewer, this works. So it must be some sort of memory issue with FME Data Inspector??

user attribute table - write attribute names and datatypes as rows

In an FME reader under the User Attributes tab it shows a table of the reader's schema with the attribute names and datatypes as rows. What I want to do is to write a table like this to an excel file. In other words I want the attribute names and datatypes as rows not the attribute values themselves. Is there a way to do this?

Georeference TIFs Using SHP Grid of Extents

I have about 100 TIF airphotos that I need to georeference using a grid that represents the extents of each photo. The grid is in a shape file - it contains rectangles repesenting the extents of each image, and the image file name in an attribute. The grid is in the desired destination coordinate system. Is there any way to do this in FME Desktop 2014 ? My initial thoughts are: Read the TIFs Read the shape file Use RasterGeoReferencer <--- somehow correlate each grid square's coordinates to each TIF file. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

DGN text/label into line

Hi everyone, I have DGN file with text labels (geometry type text). I need to transform them into geometry type line. It means that forexample letter A is transform into 2 lines (/\\ -) or 3 lines ( / \\ -) and similarly wiht other letters. GeometryCoercer transform it only into poit geometry type. Any suggestions ? Convert polygon SHP -> DGN, that shows arrow head along the polygon boundary

Hi, I am a beginner in FME and have very limited knowledge of it. I would like to join a polygon shape file, with an Excel spreadsheet that shares a common ID , then convert the joined file to DGN. My shape file looks like this : The attribute table: Spreadsheet: For the result, I would like to have the DGN showing arrow heads along the polygons, pointing to the area with the lower population: This is getting way harder that I thought it would be. Would someone help me please? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!!!!

Hello, I have following situation: - Master workspace A (including 1 FMEServerJobSubmitter for Workspace B) - Workspace B containing a linked custom transformer Workspace B generates the actual output (GML). The output location can not be defined by me because of a known issue (decision of Safe). Workspace A moves the data from the default location (based on attribute output_datasets{}.path) to the desired location. When doing this I would also like to zip the GML file. This is possible when the Destination File Copy Directory is like ...\\result.zip Both the actual output name should be set by an attribute like ...\\attributA.zip In order to do that I create attributes filecopy_source_dataset, filecopy_dest_Dataset and filecopy_dest_filename But by doing this, the created zip file is corrupt.It seems that just the extention "zip" is added but the data is not zipped. Is there a way to move and zip a file and define the zip name based on an attribute? Thanks, Rob

import schema definition

Hi All, I have 19 tables with 50 odd attributes each and their datatypes within a csv.(field_name, datatype, Width, Precision). I am writting out to ESRI file GSB. How do i set the writers data type from this list. I have tried importing the csv the using the "duplicate on writer" function. This is great for setting the name of the writer attributes but doesnt set the data Type fields. Is this possible ? Any suggestions to save me from setting 1000 data types manually. For every group of points, keep the point with the associated attribute that has smallest value

I have a shapefile with points, each with two attributes: class, and rank (a decimal number). There are many points, 10 classes, and a range of rank numbers. I would like my output to keep only one point per class: the point with the lowest associated rank. At first I thought Aggrogator would solve my problem entirely - however, while it allows for group by class, I'm not sure how I would then select the point in each group with least value (it is aimed at taking the average or the sum).

Stop the featuremerger to be processed when there is no supplier

Hi all, I have a featuremerger and want to check if some specific values(named "CheckValues") exists in my feature attributes or not(Orig_Attr). Everything works perfectly as far as I have both supplier and requestor. In my case there are some cases that I do not have any "Orig_Attr". In this situation I do not need that featuremerger works. I thought when I put Orig_Attr as supplier and check the "Suppliers First" to yes then it stops the process when It does not receive anything. But it doesn't effect. Is there any way to stop the process in such a case? It means just stop this process and not the whole workspace. Thank you Mani

Determine Lines Intersecting Points

I have a lines layer and a points layer. I would like to find out for each point, which lines intersect it. I would then like the lines intersecting each point to be displayed in an attribute. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Identifying more than one polygon that lies within main dataset?

Hi I have have two datasets of polyonised data. 1. Field parcels 2. ineligible features that lie within field parcel polygons.. How can I identify if a field parcel polygon contains just one feature polygon or two or more feature polygons? I'm relatively new to fm desktop and I'm wondering if there is a transformer that can help me with my issue? thanks

Find the closest point and then draw a line

Hi This is probably a simple one... I have two input files (shapefiles) each containing a set of nodes. For file 1, I would like to find the closest point in file 2 and then draw a polyline between the two. I have been playing around with coordinate extractor to retrieve the x,y coordinates of each file and then neighbourfinder to find the closest node. But that is just copying over the attributes of the closest point. Any help is greatly appreciated. Kind Regards Zoe

Filter line segments

I have a GML filet hat I want to clip or tile into 25k m squares. Is it possible to somehow filter out the parallel lines sectioning this map to be used with the clipper? The features in the GML- file are currently polygons. The lines don’t have any attributes. Sectioning the map using the tiler transformer cuts the existing lines at an angle. Alternatively, is it possible to angle the tiler transformer?

Syntax for RasterExpressionEvaluator with multiple clauses?

I have a raster (double) that has positive and negative values and want to query it - but have been unable to find the correct syntax when using the RasterExpressionEvaluator with multiple clauses. When I want just the cells that are positive, I only have one clause (line), which works fine: However, if I only want the cells between zero and, say, 0.1, I need two clauses (lines), and the following does not work. It actually gives the same answer as the first picture above - as if the second clause made no impact at all: What am I missing? I am using the latest FME Beta (Build 15208)

Sort the Matched Output

I have a question about the Matcher output and selecting the desired record to move forward. Here is the scenario: Matcher_Matched produces some rows. Matcher_SingleMatched is populated, but that set is sub-optimal (e.g., an attribute is null compared to that within the other matched row). I need a way to tailor the single-matched rows so they contain the most valuable rows based on a comparison of the matched rows based on attribute comparison criteria. So, what is the simplest way to loop through the Matcher_Matched result set in order to pick the desired row from those with the same match_id? Thanks, Pete

Calculating journey times

Hi I have a set of origin points "origins" and a set of destination points "destinations" for which I would like to calculate the journey time between each of them (for every OD pair). I also have network shapefile "network" that has the road centrelines which contains speed and distance attributes. I think I need to use "shortest path finder" and weight it by the speed but is anyone able to help describe this in more detail/ suggest an alternative method to create a OD matrix with journey times and another with journey distances for each OD combination? Thanks

Change mapinfo workspace layer filepaths

We have about 100 mapinfo workspaces for a project We have moved offices and our drive letter mapping is going to change This will mess up all the workspaces Is there a way FME can edit the workspace (it can be viewed as text in notepad) to change the drive letters, similar to how you can use the string replacer in tab and excel files This would also be useful for if you moved mapinfo layers to a new location rahter than having to re-add them all to workspaces
