.mdb Binary Data Objects to SHP spatial

Hello all I have an access database (.mdb) with several tables with a Binary Data Object field. I can open these layers fine within Cadcorp GIS. However, all our users have QGis. I was wondering if there was a way to translate these files to SHP files with geometry? I can translate the attribute data fine, but cannot see a way to generate the spatial data. Many thanks, Harry

Add Geometry to Feature

Hello everyone, I want to add geometries from one feature to another and change their geometry_name. I have a base feature "VerticalStructure" which has a list of geometries (Polygone) (part{}.VerticalStructurePart.extent). But this "VerticalStructure" also contains geometries for LightElements (part{}.VerticalStructurePart.lighting{}.LightElement.location). So I created another feature called "VerticalStructureLightElement" (Point), and set the geometry (lighting{}.LightElement.location) After creating both geometries I thougt I could use an Aggregator to add the geometries from "VerticalStructureLightElement" to "VerticalStructure". But somehow i am stuck. I want to rename all "VerticalStructureLightElement" geometries to part{}.VerticalStructurePart.lighting{}.LightElement.location to add the lightElement geometry to every item of part{}. I also tried the FeatureMerger, but then most geometries get lost. Does someone kno

Joiner not picking up geometries (from Supplier)

Requestor: Features that have originated from a non-spatial Oracle table. Supplier: Reader is set to Oracle Spatial Object and geometries are stored in a column "GEOMETRY" (Embeded connection) "Fields to Add" contains all of the columns EXCEPT geometry. The output from the transformer has no geometry. Apart from this they are joining & the output of the attributes is correct. Any thoughts? FeatureMerger works fine, but is not performing well in this instance, as this part of the workbench is only used in certain circumstances but I'm having to read a large spatial table in whether those are met or not. Joiner would prevent this happening. This is in FME 2015.0 (20150217 Build 15253 WIN64)

Python Caller - using arcpy input error (already pointed dll)

Hey yall... I posted my caller script below. I can get it to work for setting an attribute so I know I am reading and passing out the feature correctly. Distance of junction points from a single point feature along a polyline.

I have a multi-part polyline with junction points along the line. I'd like to measure the distance of each junction points along the line from a single source point feature. All parts flow away from the source already. I am also trying to determine the length of each part from the starting point to the end point of each segment that branches off from the junction points. ..

Inesrting existing objectIDs into a relationship class...?

Hi All, I'm new to FME but not to ESRI and file geodatabase design. I've set up the file geodatabase with a spatial line feature class, a heirachical table to hold a list of group names and a relationship class to associate the lines with a group record. I can populate the relationship class in ArcMap (it populates with the OBJECTIDs of the line and the OBJECTIDs of the group record) but I want to do this using FME. I have seen and followed the tutorial outlining how to add attachments using a relationship class here (http://evangelism.safe.com/fmeevangelist100/) but that example matches the data in a field of the feature class to the filename of the photo and creates new objectIDs using a Counter. I want to be able to force an INSERT into the relationship class using the existing objectIDs of the lines and the groups. How can I accomplish this?. I'm using Arc10.1 and FME2012. How to make date parameter optional

I want to have the option of a date to be used as a parameter for the workbench. If there is a date entered this is used to only process specific records, if the parameter is null then just proceed with all records. The date/time parameter has an "optional" tick box, but even with this ticked it's impossible to clear the default date? When I run with parameters, I also cannot clear the default date to null. This is in FME 2015.0 (20150217 Build 15253 WIN64)

Generating a bounding polygon from point data and surface interpolation

I have point data representing yield measurements within a field (typically 30-40k pts). I want to create a bounding polygon to represent the field boundary and interpolate selected variables as surface/contour maps (e.g.. bushels/ac). The steps I have tried are: 1. Generate a bounding polygon - - Reprojected lat/long to UTM - Buffered points to 15m - applied AreaOnArea overlay - applied Dissolver Apparently this is not the correct workflow since the processing takes forever. 2. Contour point attribute - I'm looking through the Knowledge Center for examples of using ContourGenerator transformer to generate 2D surface maps from point data and can only find examples showing how to generate 3D terrain/DEM data. What transformers should I be using?

distance of points along a line

hey all, i think i got a simple question for you guys, i have a single line in a DWG that represents the centre of a road, i also some point features that we have surveyed, which are offset from the line (not direcly on the line) my question is how can i measure of the distance from the start of the line untill each point feature? i have tried using AnchoredSnapper to "snap" the points to the line but then i can`t mearure the distance, any help would be great many thanks in advance!

How to keep a table of dates data was last updated?

Hi all, FIgured I'd ping this forum before looking elsewhere, but here's a question: In an effort to provide data to the enterprise, we'd like to let them know when tables they are pulling were last updated. They will be pulling tables from SQL Server. Is it possible to either write or update rows in a 'data status' table, or is there another method out there of creating/providing this data? Replace blank attributes with zeros

Using ESRI's Data Interoperability Extention (FME 2012 SP1), I've built a tool which creates an excel file that summarizes water utility information in each of our service areas. As you can see in the screenshot below, the tool gives me length of water lines based on each combination of diameter & material in each service area. Also, the first row for each service area lists the square footage of polygon features in each service area and the quantity of point features in each service area. The issue I'm running into now is with the polygon features (Casing & ThrustProtection in this case) having blank cell values in the first row of each service area. I believe the reason their cell values are blank is because we don't have any of those polygon features in these particular service areas in our data. Ideally though, these cell values would be zero instead of blank. So in the screenshot above, cells H2, I2, & I15 would be zero instead of blank. All the rest

Error executing string `import urllib

Hi, I have an FME workspace that includes a Python start-up script used to download some zip files from a website: import urllib # Get Mining tenement zip files. urllib.urlretrieve ("http://geodownloads.dmp.wa.gov.au/datacentre/download/mineral_inf/tenements.zip", save_path + "tenements.zip") The script works fine in FME Desktop, but fails when run by FME Server with the error: Error executing string `import urllib Any ideas what the problem could be? Line on Line Overlayer/overlap

Hi all, I know this might be a very simple question but I am pretty biggener. I have a FME file with DWG input and output the objective is to cleanup the DWG archive. I have lots of overlayer/overlap line on line. I want to get rid of the short one and just keep the long one. Is there a way for this? I thought to split the lines with he intersection point but at the end I will have some join lines with lots of vertexces. However, I want to have one line with one start and one end point. I appreciate your help,

cut geometries based on polygons

Good morning. I am trying to use some polygons to filter some points and lines.I also want to use the polygons as "Areas of Interest", meaning that I want to clip the geometries--points and lines- to match each polygon and exclude the geometries-points and lines- that are outside of the polygons. So far I have tryed the clipper but that only seems to work with polygons. I need something lile a cookie cutter.. Is there such a thing? Any suggestions? Thanks

z value issue using clipper

Hi all, I run into a problem when using the clipper transformer. As "clipper" I use a .shp file with a clip area. As "Clippee" I use a file geodatabase with 3D data. When a polygon is cut it is logical that at the edges of the cut area new coordinates are be created. This must be done in such a way that the polygon is still closed in 3D. Here it goes "wrong" within FME. On the edges of the clip area FME created a new coordinate, with z-value 0.0. As a result, there are multiple coordinates to lie on each other with a different z-value. See attached picture as example. In this example, starting coordinates 0 has an incorrect z-value whereby the polygon cannot be closed in 3D. Coordinate 1 also has an incorrect Z-value. In addition, this coordinate is redundant (but that is less relevant). The consequence of these z-values are easily visible in ArcScene. The overpass is cut and get new coordinates with z-value 0.0.
