reading xml with feature_reader transformer

Hi, I am trying to read an xml file with Feature_reader transformer (FMEDesktop 2015 64b) and I always get this error: A fatal error has occurred. Check the logfile above for details: ... invalid byte '”' at position 1 of a 1-byte sequence XML Parser error: 'invalid byte '”' at position 1 of a 1-byte sequence' A fatal error has occurred. Check the logfile above for details. ... If i read it with with XML reader there is no problem at all. But as I need to read a whole folder with a set of xml files i will need to do it with the feature reader (reading the path) It would be a great help if someone could help me. How do I convert dwg to svg while maintaining style information (line / fill colors and line widths)?

Hello all, FME (and Autocad) noob here. I am trying to convert a few thousand small DWG files to SVG. This works well with the Real DWG reader and SVG writer; however, I am having difficulty finding a way to set the SVG line width and polygon fill colors from the respective autocad format attributes. Any way I can achieve this without manually writing SVG-tags? Cheers Götz

Merging two lists

Hi all, I have features containing two lists obtained from Matcher. First list named _fromPolygon contains just yes/no elements. Second one named _SYMBOL has values of integer type. I need to select minimal value from _SYMBOL but based on other list. If in _fromPolygon I don't have 'no', then I ned to simply minimal _SYMBOL value. If _fromPolygon contains 'no' values, then I need to get minimal _SYMBOL value where corresponding _fromPolygon is 'no'. Example: Feature | _fromPolygon | _SYMBOL | wanted value 1 yes, no, yes, no, no 2, 9, 2, 5, 3 3 2 yes, yes, yes, yes 2, 3, 1, 5 1 3 no, no, no, no, no, no 2, 3, 2, 5, 3 2 I combined ListSorter and ListSearcher but allways get lost when trying to merge two lists in order to get Feature 1 situation done. What are your suggestions and ideas for achieving t

Reading from a zip file

Hi List, I have a zip file (Ordnance Survey Strategi) that I am trying to read directly from the zip. How to offset a point along a line away from a junction?

There could be several points along the the line within a 100 feet buffer and a tolerance gap of 30 feet between point is required. Assume that there will be no more than 3 points within the buffer.

SQLExecutor for non-database querying and filtering?

In FME Desktop 2014, I have a table of data that has gone through multiple transformers to test, filter, and create/calculate new attributes. One of the new attributes is a text field containing a SQL query statement (unique for each record) which was calculated from a combination of other attributes in the table. I need to iterate through each of the table records, and use the new SQL text attribute to query records from another dataset. This other dataset is in an Oracle database, so I am using the SQLExecutor transformer (where the "Initiator" is my transformed table dataset, the "SQL Statement" parameter is my SQL attribute which queries my specified table in the database). The Result output of this transformer has a group of features filtered from the database table with each assigned attributes from the Initiator. Additional manipulation of this dataset includes a spatial Disssolver based on the "Initiator" attributes. This works perfectly. But wha

SQLExecutor Single Execution

Hi, I've created a workspace that reads from six tables in a PGDB file and does mutliple types of validation on each. I have set a global variable at the start of the process to 1 and each failure path writes what went wrong to an error log table in our database. The failure paths also set my global variable to 0. These all connect to a VariableRetriever then a Tester to see if ther were any failures. What I would like is if even a single feature failed along the way, the workspace writes a failed status to the database using the SQLExecutor and stops. If nothing failed, it continues and writes the PGDB features to the database. The issue here is that the Tester outputs all failed features, so would execute the SQLExecutor multiple times and I just want it to run once. Is there a way for the SQLExecutor to only run once, even with multiple features being input, or a way to remove the features so only one is passed in? Thanks, Nick

neighbour finder by group

I have a set of base points and a set of candidate points. I want to merge the attributes from candiates points to the closest base points based on a group_id variable only existing in the candidate attributes. So the results should be a very wide dataset containing the original base attributes and candidate attributes from different group_id (possibly distinguished by adding group_id as suffix to the candidate variables). At first I thought this can be easily done in neighbour finder using the Group By option. But it turned out to be unsuccessful. My understanding is that the Group By only works if both base and candidate have the same group_id. So anyone could help me out joining datasets only using the grouping in one dataset? Cheers

Raster Mosaicker & Raster Bands

I'm trying to mosaic a bunch of GeoTiffs to a single ECW and encounter the following error.... "RasterMosaicker(RasterMosaicFactory): All input rasters must have the same number of selected bands. The raster '24' has '3' selected bands, but the mosaicked raster '0' has '4' selected bands" Can anyone assist? Regards Craig Townsend

attributesplitter can handle utf-8 code

Hello, I use an AttributeSplitter in order to split an attribute like TK25|UK50|DOK The data is read from an database an comes as string. Some of the attribute i have to edit additionally, so for some of them i use an attribute creator to edit the attribute. The attributecreator will code this attribute in utf-8 (as i use a pipe as seperator i assume) and it isn't split by the attributesplitter. Can you help me? Thanks Isabell

How to rename attributes to remove special signs?

Dear FME community, I have several attribute names with (german) special signs which I want to rename. For example: gefällt -> gefaellt Fälldatum -> Faelldatum Höhe --> Hoehe The "ä" and "ö" should be replaced with "ae" or "oe" so that the resulting attribute (after -->) will be gefaellt, Faelldatum and Hoehe. Setting no data value to remove black borders also removes black from raster

I have about 3500 8-bit RGB geotiffs with black borders. I use the Clipper to remove/define the pixels that are outside my polygons to NoData. In combination with the RasterBandNodataSetter. But when I use 0 as a value it also removes black pixels in my map. The same with 255, it also removes white from my map. I can't find a proper value to use without losing pixels in my map/raster. Any suggestions for this? thanks!

I have an odbc connection and am trying to return the new records from the last 24 hours. I think I keep running into issues on how to format the SQL statement.My plan is to run this daily and only geocode the newest records in the past 24 hours. Thanks!

XMLFragmenter Encoding

I'm having trouble using the XMLFragmente in conjunction with a HttpFetcher. The results of my httpget are correctly stored in an attribute with ISO-8859-1 encoding. However, fragments generated by the XMLFragmenter seem to be UTF-16 encoded and I can't find a way to keep the transformer from changing the encoding. Anyone have a good idea on how to change that? Thanks!

neighbor finding based upon location and attributes

Hi all, This is the situation: I have 2 lines (red and green) and a lot of points who should be matched to one or 2 of the lines. This works fine with the neighbourfinder but only in the cases where the lines aren't equal to each other. In the cases 16-3, 7-6, 8-5 and 9-4 the points who should be matched are on the same location and the lines are at that spot also equal to each other (I know it's a bad drawing but otherwhise it would be confusing :) ) If I do this with the neigborfinder (combined with list exploder) I get too much information (I'll explain with 1 point as its the same case for all points) in scenario 8-5 (circled in blue) I get information on point 8 from the red and green line and in point 5 I also get information on the red and green line while the situation I want to get is red information on point 8 and green information on point 5. I need to find a way to get the right information out of it. I need to find a way to check in the neighborhood of point

UUID Attribute different FME/AutoCAD

Hello, We created a DWG File in AutoCAD, where each Feature contains an attribute "MergeID" (which is a UUID). When I read this DWG file in Data Inspector or FME Desktop, the MergeID changes. In this case the UUID in the DWG was 86393bed-2734-4aba-889a-bec844d23c16, but in FME it is ec5398b7-7228-48fd-b1e5-acfe8e444974. When I reopen the dwg, it still is 863.... . I have no idea what is causing this problem, because some MergeIDs are correct, but others not. Does someone know how to fix this? Thank you

FME cloud shared resources subfolder problem

Hello, I am trying out sending attachments via email from FME cloud instance (tutorial for FME server 2015 - sending mail tutorial, example 5). Everything seems to work nicely, however there's a problem I seem to run into when setting file paths. When I upload my file into resources under data, and call the file path in my workspace - for example $(FME_SHAREDRESOURCE_DATA)/Water.zip, the file is sent just fine. But when I create a subfolder in data folder, the file does not get sent to me. $(FME_SHAREDRESOURCE_DATA)/folderexample/myData.xls How do I call subfolders, so that my workspace published on cloud finds the file? Filter polygons and multipolygons

Hi people, I need to filter polygons, polygons with holes and multipolygons from GML source set. I tried GeometryFilter and MultipleGeometryFilter but it seems not working as I want. In 2710 features I know that two are multies for sure. But, as you see, all of them are sent to only one port. How to achieve this?

Assign ID in order

Hi All, Hopefully this is a quick question. Basically I have a bunch of 8 polygons, with no attributes. Basically I want to add a ID to each of these, but taking into account their location to each other. I.e. ID 1 should be next to ID 2 etc, similar to the image I mocked up below. The Counter just randomly assigns an ID, but not in order. Similar with the GOIDGenerator. The only other thing I have that links the polygons is a line feature, also seen in the image, which either Crosses or Touches each polygon. This line is orientated running from North to South, however in other instances this could be any orientation, so I can't try and extract centre points etc from polygons. I'm almost certain I don'e something like this before, but can't remember how, and it has me stumped! Cheers, Tony

LengthCalculator - relative distances change depending on projection

Hi Folks, I'm trying to work out what's going on here. I have a series of lines in WGS84. I run them through this process: LengthCalculator -> Reprojector (to _AZMED_) -> LengthCalculator. This gives me two lengths for each line, one in WGS84 "units" (meaningless themselves), the other in _AZMED_ units (metres I think). I expect the absolute values of these lengths to be different, but the relative values to be the same (i.e. that I can sort by either length column, and that the order will remain unchanged). However this isn't the case - the relative values are different. Sorted by Azmed you see: Sorted by WGS84, it's obvious that the azmed order is different. However this doesn't seem to happen with polygons and the AZMEA projection - their sort order seems to remain consistent. So the question - what quirk of projections am I missing? Which distance is "correct"? I know that different projections have different traits, but

coordinate conversion, z not staying negative

trying to convert NGDC HYD93 format data (b93) to ascii text xyz or csv. using CSV as the target format, i'm using coordinateextractor to expose the xyz values. the problem is, the z value is being converted to a positive value, while it is negative in the original data. I've been plaing with paramaters in both the coordinate extractor, the target writer featrue type, nothing. any thoughts, either preserving the negative value, or multiplyiing the attribute by -1 by a paamater in the writer, or an arithmatic operator for the writer value?

Creating autmated 3D graph

Hello all, I was wondering that if there is a workflow for FME that is able to produce a 3d Graph ( Bar/ line) from an inputed text file. I am thinking for the output to use 3D pdf to have better user intraction for panning and zooming at the same time some filters also. Is this possible and is there a better way to see 3D output other than 3D pdf. Thank you, Ishan

Hi, Currently my reader read's results in July for June and I have time stamper to disply the date, it displays July date, is there anyway I can have a transformer that will display June date for June results but i always run the workbench in current month for previous month. Thank you
