Assign level in microstation V8

Hi , I'm trying to assign a level to the output ( Microstation V8) give a input in arcmap , I'm doing it with schemaMapper and filterAttribute ( To direction to correct geometry the input). In function of the input value (Filter Attribute in options schemaMapper) of arcmap attribute I assign a level with the option new attribute of schemaMapper. Finally I assign with map Feature types to direction to correct geometry , but don't assign me the level to the output V8 , always assign the same level ( A incorrect level) and doesn't look in the table of excel of the schema mapper.Anybody knows if there is any problem with this configuration of the schema Mapper and the Attributefilter ????.Thanks in advanced , regards !!

How to replace an xml element with an ampersand in it

I'm using the xmlupdater, but have encountered a problem when there is an ampersand in the path that I'm looking up. The updater doesn't find it. In the xml I'm reading in, all of the ampersands have been changed to & but if I send that as part of the string into the path part of the updater I never find a match. That's true if I use a value type of string or of xml/xquery.

Terminology

I'm very new to FME and would like to use it to migrate ArcGIS geodatabase feature classes from one geodatabase schema to another. I'm trying to teach myself but am having a little trouble with the terminology in the FME documentation. For instance, it seems to me that the word "attribute" is used in place of "field", at least some of the time. Can someone confirm that's the case? Since I work with GIS data, to me the word "attribute" refers to values in a field, not the field itself, so I am sometimes confused. I need to understand the terminology FME is using but I haven't found an index or dictionary of terms in the FME documentation so far. If one exists I'd be grateful to anyone who can point me to it. Thanks.

Optimising a point cloud cutter

Hi FMEers. I'm after some some tips on how to optimise an existing workspace. The workspace is clipping a point cloud (POD format) in plan view using multiple clippers. Version 1 of the workspace worked fine, whereby multiple Clippers (over 1,000) looks at 20 or so POD files coerced into points. However, it is incredibly slow, as each of the PODs contain several million points.I was thinking that point cloud pass much faster through the workspace before they are coerced, so a more efficient workspace would only coerce point cloud files that are required, and more importantly only Clip against point cloud files that over the area of interest, i.e. 'Clipper feature 1' only looks at point files files that are either within a point cloud extent or intersect it. Due to the size of the point clouds v the clipper boundary, clipper features will very rarely clip more than two clouds, and this scenario is only where one point cloud meets another (I am looking at a linear poi

error when reprojecting data from mtm27-8 to wgs84.platecarree

Hello,  I would like to reproject data with X,Y coordinates in mtm27-8 to WGS84.Plate Carree.I'm getting an error message saying that the reprojector could not create the reprojection engine.I have the input file (essai.xlsx) as well as the workspace (xlsx2txt.fmw).Any thoughts?Arthy

Filtering features based on duplicate attribute value and proximity (Spatial Filter?)

I have two datasets containing point features with a place name attribute. One dataset is more complete than the other in some areas and the other dataset is more complete in other areas.I'd like to combine the datasets into a single dataset but with out duplicating place names that exist in both but I can't just delete records where the place name attribute is not unique, for example, there is a Leeds in Yorkshire and also a Leeds in Kent so I need to only delete duplicates if they are within a certain distance of each other.I've looked at the Spatial Filter transformer and I can use the place name attribute in the Group By but I'm not sure how I'd build this into my workspace and delete the duplicates. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

How to create points on a (measured) line?

Dear FME community,I have created measures on a line geometry (thanks to @takashi, your tips are very helpful!). For every vertex the measures are attached to the geometry. In my attribute table, I have a column of the original measures.For example: A line is 1000 metres long. In the attribute table there is a column "beginning station" with the value 0, and a column "end station" with the value 800. The resulting line which I want to get should therefore be only 800m long, starting from point 0. If it would start at 400 and go to 800, the line would then only be 400m long.I have calculated the measures, but how can I split the line on the measures I want, e.g. 800? Is there a way to create points on these locations, so that I can intersect them with the original line?Every help is appreciated! Many thanks.Kind regardsThomas

Problem reading area with donut hole from autocad dwg file

Hi, I'm, getting a strange problem while reading a dwg file using the RealDWG reader in FME (version 2016.1.0.1). As shown in the picture below, the autocad file contains area features with holes. However, when FME reads these geometries the hole is missing. Any idea of what is going on and what can be done to fix this problem?

Automate change detect over data received on the past

Dear All , We are receiving data on daily basis , and now we discovered that is there a change on parcel and we need to run change detect over all the received data , each folder contain shape file , first we need to compare the , it is also better is there is tolarance . 18-06-2012 with 5-7-2012 then 5-7-2012 with 17-7-2012 and so on , and get all the changes , Thanks ,

AttributeValueMapper with Excel mapping table doesn't work

Hello,I've got an Excel sheet like the following and I simply like to map an Attribute in my FME workbench.My workbench looks like:And my AttributeValueMapper Parameters are:In my example the value in FEATURE (AttributeCreator) is inside of the Excel sheet but as result I always get the standard value, not the value I'd like to be mapped.In Excel the cells are formated as text since there are also alphanumerical values.Hope someone may help here.btw: How do I prevent the file upload here to add the path of my files to the filename as prefix?

Writing TIFF with internal views

I am going to use FME to run finalisation on ortophoto projects. Two of the three products require TIFF to be part of final delivery. One require simple uncompressed, non-tiled files. Easy. And fast enough too. The issue I am facing is that one product require both tiling (this can be set in the GeoTIFF-writer) AND views (aka. internal image pyramid). I had a look at the RasterPyramider-transformer, but external raster pyramid tiles is not at all what I am looking for. I see in the Knowledge Center that internal image pyramiding was planned by Safe back in 2012, so I suspect I am missing something here. Does anyone have experience in similar issues, and able to give me a hand? If Safe haven't finished their internal pyramiding initiative yet, does anyone have an alternative I can have a go at?

PythonCaller: Use logMessageString Problems with Encoding

Hello!  I'm using the PythonCaller to write lines into the log message. I use logMessage String and with data that has mutated vowels I get following error message:   Python Exception <UnicodeEncodeError>: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\\xfc' in position 67: ordinal not in range(128)   What can I do that I can write also data with ä,ü,ö to the log message?  Thanks for your help!  Isabell

Python function enumerate

I have a PythonCaller with a script using the unumerate function.In my Python IDE, it works fine. In my FME project on my laptop either. But, when I copy it in a FME project on another computer (VM actually), the enumerate line seems to be passed without an error message.  finalFieldListOutput = []        with open('formDataOutput.txt') as myFile:            logger.logMessageString("2dans le with IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII")            for number, line in enumerate(myFile, 1):                logger.logMessageString("2dans le for OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO")                if 'FieldName:' in line:                    logger.logMessageString("2dans le if FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF")In the FME logger, there is just "2dans le with IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII". In all the situation, I'm using Python 2.7. So I cannot see where is the problem.

Certain Transformers output .ffs files

I'm not sure if this was always the case, but lately I've noticed that certain transformers (VertexCreator, AreaOnAreaOverlayer) are storing any invalid geometries it comes accross into .ffs files. This is nice for debugging, but it's not always what I want. Is there any way to tell FME if I don't want those features stored?

Attribute Creator Issue - Setting Attribute Name to Attribute Value in 2016

I'm trying to create a new attribute with it's name based on an attribute value. Within 2016 this does not appear to work correctly and the attribute is not created correctly. Output using a 2015 attributecreator is fine, 2016 produces some unexpected results, is there something I'm missing that now needs to be done in 2016? Or is this a bug?Sample workbench attached

JSON time series data

Hi,I've been trying to convert a JSON time series dataset into spreadsheet using FME Desktop for the last few days and am having some trouble getting the full time series to come out of the process. I can get the first record out of the dataset, (or second, etc.) by just adding value{0}.value and value{0}.dateTime in the AttributeManager, along with all of the other static data for the station (lat/long, name, site code, etc.). The current workflow correctly writes the output to excel, but I need the static data to repeat and the full list of value/dateTime records to be written. If I add a ListBuilder in front of the AttributeManager, then nothing comes through and all that's written to output are the field names. I think that the ListBuilder is probably the key here, as it lets me add a range of indexes for the time series data (i.e - value{0-100}.dateTime), but there's no output when I do this and I think I need a little guidance. A side question here: if ListBuilde

Exposing Windows Explorer date created/modified, etc. as attributes

Hi,  What's the best way to expose windows file attributes in FME?  Things like: date created date modified file size file type as windows sees it (though I could use the extension)  I've read the post below, is this still the best way to get the info above?  https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/fmetalk/3YpFKiOy4Fw  Someone has asked me to create a workbench that scans a project area and reports back on what files that been worked on/modified each day and records frequency of access and modification.  An interesting challenge!  Thanks.

GeometryValidator misses self-intersection error

Greetings.I have a self-intersecting polygon which is not being recognised as such by the GeometryValidator. The "Self-intersections in 2D" option in the transformer parameters is checked and most other self-intersecting geometries are detected. However, a small percentage are not. How come FME sees this as a valid geometry when my oracle database rejects it?SDO_GEOM.VALIDATE_GEOMETRY_WITH_CONTEXTFME Desktop 2016.1.0.1 (20160516 - Build 16494 - WIN32)I have attached the geometry as ESRI shapefile to this post. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Pairwise combinations help

Hi guys, I've been struggling for a couple of days with the following conundrum, hoping someone can offer some guidance. I have an input containing one attribute (sa2_code) with 2000 region values in numeric format (example value: 101011002)I have a second input containing one attribute (year) with roughly 20 different year values.I would like to merge the two such that each region code is duplicated 20 times with each different year value. eg:sa2_codeyear10101100219911010110021992......101011002201010101100319911010110031992......1010110032010I've tried feature merger and joiner in loops but can't seem to get them working for this task. Simple Spatial join

hi experts I am trying to do a simple spatial join or a point on line overlay . I need to pick up the line segment that the point intersects or touches . As the point is not exactly on the line , I have a tolerance setting on the Point on Line Overlay transformer . But the full line segment is not picked up and only one part is picked up as the line is split at the point . Is there a way around this or another transformer you can recommend Thanks for your help

Dynamic Attributes in custom transformer?

Hi Community,I created a custom transformer to connect an Inspector with internally defined color styles.I got fme_color and fme_fill_color as public Parameters.Purpose is to define the output colors in my Workspace instead in the Data Inspector, so each time I run the process it'll look similarly. Now I see that all the attributes of my input data is not going through that custom transformer, I need to expose them inside the transformer. But that's kind of senseless to me since I'd like to use that for a variety of data structures, means for each new dataset I need to expose other attributes (different numbers and names of attributes).Is there a way to create it in an dynamic way like it's possible in FeatureWriters?Thank you in advance,Maik.

I have a CSV with XY data for Kansas City. I've been told its in UTM. Not sure of the zone though (zone 15?). How do I convert this to Long and Lat?

Start End Processing time of Workbench

I have a Workbench that process and uses htmlreportgenerator which is emailed to users. I would want to publish the start, end and processing time of the workbench. The reasoning is some users do not have access rights to FME SERVER.
