Question

How to inherit AutoCAD placements

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

We have a directory of AutoCAD drawings depicting building interiors. This directory is considered the source of truth for interior spaces and the GIS team has created World files for each one.

Other departments take these drawings and add their own data on top of it. An example of the data would be the locations of drinking fountains, emergency exit signs, and wifi access points. They maintain these drawings in their own department directory and did not copy over the original world files.

Here is the question: when the GIS dept places the original WLD files in these dept directories and bring the data in, there are instances where the location is not the same as the original drawings. Most are, but not all. Instead of creating custom wld files for these (there are 1000's) is there a way in FME to apply the characteristics of the original drawings to the new, department-specific, drawings to the data is in the correct location.

I did my best to try and describe the situation but please let me know if anything doesnt make sense.

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.
