Inspired by a fun comment from @redgeographics on a past Question of the Week about his toponyms playlist: What’s your favourite song that has a location in the title?
New to the Question of the Week?
Every week, we’ll post a simple but thought-provoking question that could be about your FME journey, the power of spatial data, FME innovation, or the future of FME.
Each weekly question you answer earns you an entry in our monthly draw for exclusive Safe swag ($50 value) and points toward badges! Answer our March Questions of the Week by April 30, 2025 at 5:00 pm PDT to be entered in this month’s draw.

Oh and where would I be without nominating Wilco’s “California Stars” ?
Three random favorites
- New York state of mind - Billy Joel
- Burma shave - Tom Waits
- Place de Brouckère - Django Reinhardt
Ohio (Come back to Texas) - Bowling for Soup 2004 Great song! AND the title has two place names!
Since this is still going, I’ll add that I’m a big fan of Gerry Rafferty and on his Snakes and Ladders album he has:
- The Royal Mile
- Welcome to Hollywood
- The Garden of England
And don’t forget his song Mary Skeffington - I’m sure you all know Skeffington (pronounced with a V not F) is a small village in Leicestershire!
My suggestions:
- “Europa” - Falco
- “The Girl from Ipanema" (Garota de Ipanema) – Antônio Carlos Jobim e Vinícius de Moraes
There are so many fantastic songs and I’m tempted to make a long playlist, but I need to focus on FME now so I’ll only give you one song:
Jerusalem - Alpha Blondy
Some of my favorites are:
Europe Endless - Kraftwerk
Dancing on the Berlin wall - Rational Youth
Vienna - Ultravox

I like the Vienna - Ultravox
Fantastic song, famously kept off the number 1 spot in the UK by Joe Dolce's "Shaddap You Face"!
There’s also Vienna by Billy Joel, which is a pretty good piano ballad.

New Orleans Is Sinking - The Tragically Hip
Springtime in Vienna - The Tragically Hip
The Girl from Ipanema - Getz/Gilberto
California Love - 2Pac / Dr. Dre
By the Time I Get to Phoenix - Glen Campbell. 🤠
@doniwanicka I can’t believe I missed the Last Saskatchewan Pirate! Especially since I saw the Arrogant Worms just a couple of weeks ago. Great song and great band.
