In February, we launched a new monthly addition to the Question of the Week: Ask Me Anything (AMA) with the FME Evangelist @mark2atsafe

Have questions about what’s new in FME 2025.0? This month’s AMA is your chance to get insights straight from the team.

We’re especially excited to answer your questions about:

  • Compound Parameters - conditional parameters were updated in 2025.0, with new condition types and the ability to build complex, multiple conditions.
  • Heartbeat Functionality - features that are emitted by streaming transformers to indicate periods of inactivity.

Of course, if you have other questions about FME 2025.0, feel free to ask - though we’d love to keep the spotlight on these two key features!

Submit your questions by the end of the week in the comments below. Mark and our team will post a video response the week of March 17, 2025.

All ears for everything 2025 AMA! :D

In addition, I heard but cannot find reference to newly enabled ability to pass/handle parameters in FME Flow? I don’t know if it relates to Routing Data Between Workspaces in Automations?
Thanks and looking forward to it!

Hi folks. I made some demo videos on Compound Parameters and Heartbeat functionality, so I’m fairly confident I can answer any questions on those subjects. But I’ll do my best for any other 2025.0 functionality!

Connection Path style - What makes your workspace run faster? Curved, Squared or Straight

😁😉

Well the shortest distance between two points is a straight line….but if we are dealing with spatial data I guess that line could be curved.

Having the different connection styles result in different run times would be a funny April Fools/Easter Egg special version release.

Hello FME Folks,
This is related to MapInfo Tab files. Since we upgraded from FME 2018 to FME 2024.2.1. The MapInfo coordinate System (Non Earth Meters) are not detected which used to happen in FME 2018. Instead it is taking wkt_auto_1 and is misaligned.

Please let me know what changed.

Hi @vdeyepc - this is not the right forum for general support. I suggest that you repost your question in the FME Form > Data forum. Otherwise no-one is likely to see it.

Hi,

Will this feature (Data Virtualization) be available in 2025 ?
