Open multiple tabs in workbench

Hi FME users,

I have only been using FME for a short while, so please bear with me if this question is very basic. I remember seeing in several example screenshots of the workbench having multiple tabs open rather than just the default "Start" and "Main" tabs. I can imagine it would be very usefull to be able to toggle between different workspaces in the same workbench but couldn't find how to do this. Could anyone please share any experience on this?

Hi

you can only have one workspace (fmw) file open at a time in each instance of the Workbench (the application). The multiple tabs you've seen are most probably custom transformers that have been embedded into the workspace. When you edit these custom transformers, they appear on separate tabs within the Workbench.

You can have several instances of the Workbench open with different workspace files, though. That way you can easily toggle and copy-paste between different workspaces.

The functionality Haow is suggesting is something I'd find very useful. I'm still a relatively recent user of FME (15 months), but I was surprised to see that it wasn't possible in FME. It would fit very nicely in the tabs across the top of the workspace canvass. I'm sure most users would accept if there had to be limit of how many workspaces could be open at any one time - five, perhaps.

Definately a good idea. It is really inconvenient having to run two instances. That is also a greate feature of ArcGIS Pro.
