Is there a way to geolocate a layer that is in a non-earth coordinate system? I can get three points to define the geolocation. I presume that this should be sufficient?

Yes, I should do that: I have some files in AutoCAD dwg format of floorplans. I want to geolocate (georeference?) those floorplans to make a layer with real world coordinates. I can get real world coordinates for points on the floorplan using Google maps but I do not know how to perform the transformations. I am at the beginner stage with this but I hope that my needs are clearer now.
