In Build 18590 32 bit I am getting the error retrieving connections message when attempting to establish web or database connections. I am on Windows 10 and this is a new install of FME but I had FME 2017 64 bit previously installed on this machine temporarily but never used it.

Hi @dylangas, can you give us a little bit more context on what were you doing in FME when you encountered this error?

Hi @dylangas, the issue that you are experiencing is a known issue that we have tried to address in 2018.1 but we are aware that the fix does not resolve all scenarios.

Can you try the steps mentioned in the article below (creating Env Variables)?https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/65806/workarounds-to-known-issues-in-fme-2018x.html

This issue is completely resolved in FME Desktop 2019 which is also currently available to download if you want to try our latest software.

NOTE: If you are running multiple JAVA based applications i.e. NOTES etc can try to re-order the initialization of these applications i.e. start FME workbench first and then others

I just installed this version of FME on a machine that previously had FME 2017 (32 bit) installed. This is a new computer which corporate IT built for me (finally upgrading from Windows & to Windows 10). They installed the FME 2017 before deploying the machine to me, so I uninstalled FME 2017 and attempted to erase any sign of the 2017 software hidden in different folders locally before installing the 2018 Build 18590 32. As a side note, I also installed ArcGIS 10.2.1 to this new machine before installing FME build 18590 32.

This error occurs as I go to tools>FME Options... as soon as I click FME options I get a Error saying "Error retrieving connections." From there I have no success adding a web connections or Database Connections which I successfully used with the same FME build on my old Windows 7 machine.

Please let me know if I can offer any more information. Thanks for the help!

Dylan
