Hi folks,

I have a series of 2D points writing out to a geospatial PDF.  The points are hyperlinks that load up GPS photos in the default image browser.  The points have a rotation attribute, captured by the camera compass.  I want to replace the points with an arrow symbol with the relevant rotation, for once easy in ArcGIS, but stumped in FME!

Thanks.

Hi Amit,

for once easy in ArcGIS, but stumped in FME!

Why the do it in FME?

Hi Italy, probably a bit of misleading comment!  You can't output the content to a PDF, can only use in ArGIS which the client doesn't have.
Hi,

I just tested the following:
  • 2DDirectionExtender (from FME Store) to convert point to rotated line
  • Labeller
For the text of the labeller I used an arrow symbol that I copy/pasted from the windows Character Map application (Arial font): ?

I'm sure there are variations / other ways.

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply, that almost works!  I created a new attribute and made it the arrow symbol however it seems it's not compatible with the PDF writer.  If I connect a visualiser or write to DWG, it writes out the arrows but not to PDF.

Along these lines, is there a way to replace the "dot" symbol for a feature point in the Data Inspector?  I was able to use the procedure described above using the LabelPointReplacer, but it puts a symbol beside the actual point location represented by a dot within the data inspector.
