Projectwise connector

Hi,

I'm trying the new Projectwise connector in FME 2018, however I can't seem to get it to work or even connect to the projectwise server.

This is the error message I get:

"Retrieval Error : Unable to make the request to Bentley ProjectWise. Ensure your machine has internet connectivity"

Have anyone had any luck with this connector?

Thanks!

/Jacob

I have been able to connect to PW, but only as far as viewing the folders available through the PW Web Gateway API.

The first thing you need to figure out is what the right URL is for your Web Gateway API, this should also be accessable through your web browser.

Example URL: yourhostname/ws/

And it looks like this in the web browser:

Hi geogaard,

Thanks, it seems this brought me closer as I now get several different error messages:)

I either get a "404 error" or a "No JSON object could be decoded".

Is the base URL the base URL of the server or do I paste the entire URL for a sub-folder as well? And I'm not sure about the object ID either.

The base URL should be that of the server. An easy test is to type the server URL in your web browser, you should then see a list of all available repositories. This will appear in the left window of the below screenshot. Make sure you find this before moving on to FME again.

It is the right URL I'm using and everything is working when I log in in the browser. Doesn't work in FME though. It says "No JSON object could be decoded", which is different than the "couldn't fint source" message that I got before.

Do you have access to all the repositories, or just one of many? There might be an issue with that. When I use the ProjectWise Action "list" in the PWConnector and click on the ellipsis (...) all the repositories show up. Do you get this far?

I only have access to one repository out of multiple so maybe I need to have admin rights to connect?

There seem to be a bug when there are more than one repository. This is not confirmed. I have only access to one of many repsitories and it fails because it is always trying to read the first one on the list.

This seems very likely to be the problem, can anyone from Safe confirm this? I will have to test with another server and await an updated version of the connector.

Thanks for your input!

Hi @j2,

Thank you for posting in the FME Community! May I ask if you might be willing to submit your findings at https://www.safe.com/support/report-a-problem/ ? We would love the opportunity to discuss this further with you to develop a solution.

Best,

Annabelle

I am having exactly the same issue with the new ProjectwiseConnector. I can login to PW WebServer and navigate around, but when I use the same credentials in the transformer I get the following message

Its very frustrating that there is no documentation relating to this transformer, I am sure it will be very useful if I can get it working.

Hi @iew,

FYI: Documentation for the ProjectWiseConnector is now available (published in June): http://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME_Desktop_Documentation/FME_Transformers/Transformers/projectwiseconnector.htm
