Greetings,

Setting up the google drive connector I read the app permissions which is shown below. It states the app wants permission to 'EVERYTHING'. My question is, what does this mean? Does "app" mean "SAFE". In other words will SAFE/SAFE employees have access and view of the entire google drive? Or does it mean the only the app will be able to see it and hold any private google drive info on the private local desktop?

FME2020.2, Windows

Hi Tyler

I know how you feel. I always feel uneasy when an app asks for permission to view all my files.

But no, no-one at Safe will be able to view or access your drive in any way. The message means that FME has access to all of your Google Drive, but only your FME installation, and only when it has a valid and verified connection.

Data read from Google will come directly to your computer and won't pass through any Safe systems. If you give your workspace to someone else, they won't be able to run it on a different computer, unless you also share your connection information with them.

The only concern is if someone else could log onto your user account on your computer; then they would be able to use FME to read your Google Drive files. But then they probably wouldn't even need FME at that point.

I hope this helps to answer your question,

Mark

Thank you.

Tyler
