Hello,

does anyone know why the Truncate Existing Function in Esri SDE Writer does not reset the OBJECTID Counter of a registered Table. (Table is not Versioned).

SDE Writer File is based on World Parameter (not SID) and I am using ArcGIS 3.1.4 and FME 2022.2 (but had the Issue also in constellation ArcGIS 2.6 and FME Desktop 2021)

The data is written on Oracle 19.15

Hello @gorango, this is interesting. Cannot confirm yet, but this sounds like a known issue introduced in FME 2022.1, where the SDE Writer was not resetting the objectID field in truncate mode (FMEENGINE-77130). Are you able to submit a support case so we can take a closer look with you? When creating the case, please include any supporting files (eg. data, workspace), version numbers, complete logfile, and maybe even a video/screenshots of the behavior.

Otherwise, for the time being, you can try reverting back to FME 2020.1, where I think the truncating is reported to work as expected (downloads page). Let me know if you have any related questions, Kailin.

Hi @kailinatsafe  I created a Ticket C696227.

We are currently using FME Form 2024.0.1.0 (20240328 - Build 24202 - WIN64) and face the same problem. The object ID is not reset, even though the SDE writer is set to ‘Truncate Existing’. The version of the geodatabase is 3.1.7 - 11.1.0.41833. Does a bug ticket already exist?

Hello @mskg, thanks for commenting! The issue does currently exist (FMEENGINE-77130), but unfortunately it has not been addressed yet. I have added a note on the issue to update this thread when a solution becomes available. Truly sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Kailin.
