I have an ESRI Personal Geodatabase (mdb) with several featuretypes and coced domains.

Hoe can i copy those featuretypes into my writer included the coded domains? Without creating the coded domains in the writer manually.

The writer must write an exact copy (structure) of the existing PGDB

Hi,

unfortunately you cannot create/define coded domains using FME. You can reference existing domains, but not create any.

To ways to work around this:

  1. Use an XML template: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QhEqkYRiYY
  2. Copy an existing geodatabase with domains and empty it, either manually or using the "drop table first" option on the Writer

Hi,

The creation of coded domains is possible within FME, but Safe advises to do that in ArcCatalog insted.

David's suggestion of creating a XML template and using it in the writer, will force the assigment of the codes to be done by the esri software.

You can also try the dynamic translation mode, since your output is a replica of the input.
