Hi,

lenient geometry matching means that the order of vertices in areas are ignored. So if some of your geometries have different vertex orders but are otherwise similar, it makes sense that this setting will influence the number of output features.

See also the documentation (http://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME_Transformers/Default.htm#Transformers/changedetector.htm).

David,

Thanks, but I didn't state the issue correctly. What I meant to say is the total number of elements; added, deleted, unchanged, exiting the transformer is different when I select lenient geometry.  I would expect the number exiting each port to differ, but not the total.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying.

Difficult to tell without knowing the data, though. I recommend you send some sample data and a minimal workspace to reproduce to either your reseller or Safe (https://safecommunity.force.com/knowledgeSubmitCase) for a more thorough anwer.

I'll get some data together and  "SubmitCase".

Thanks again,
