Changes to FME workspace not being saved

using Data Interop TRIAL.  I initally was building Spatial ETL tools in the ArcGIS10.2 (on XP) default arcToolbox.  when I'd save via the Workbench the changes wouldn't stick.

 

 

ESRI told me to ALSO save via the ArcToolbox "to default.

 

that seemend to work sometimes... but it seems like as I would add addtional ETL tools, that the others were being overwritten.

 

 

I've tried to copy my custom toolbox to a personal directory.. again workspaces were blank.

 

 

When I drag and drop the last (and only) fmW file into the personal directory workspace it populates... I use the save button, but no save occurs.

 

 

I'm having to recreate a lot of work... any advice appreciated.
