Comparing the FTPCaller on FME2017.1 and FME 2016 with a Filezilla instance on the FME Server it is very slow - typically 10+ times slower. This is both download and upload towards an SFTP-server. Any possibilities to speed this up as it is NOT a network issues since the same computer is much faster with another software.

Hi @sigtill - I performed a few tests, mostly with large files, and also see a notable performance difference (i.e. FME 2018 is slower than FileZilla). I'll file a ticket with our Development Team to investigate this discrepancy and see if there can be any performance improvements for FTPCaller.

Great! I forgot one thing, it doesnt seem to handle SPACE in local directory names either - when uploading from local to sftp. It does handle SPACE when downloading from sftp to local, if I remember correctly.

Quickly tested this with FME 2017.1 and FME 2018.0 -- I did not observe any issue with Upload or Download.

Can you verify if values for "Target File" (Download) and "File to Upload" (Upload) were enclosed in "quotes"?

Edit: For completeness,.. I tested for filenames with spaces, directories with spaces, and both.

I`m using this version of FME by the way:

FME 2017.1.0.0 Beta (20170410 - Build 17470 - WIN64)

It takes: 30 minutes to transfer one 1 GB TIFF-file with FME Server. While Filezilla on the same server takes 30 seconds (28MiB/s) - quite a huge difference...

@sigtill - Agreed, that is a huge difference! This discrepancy has been Confirmed by our development team.

Have you been able to test with spaces? I'm still concerned that is not working for you. Please try in the latest stable 2017.1 Build 17539.

*And sorry about previously leaving out the @mention – I must have my Knowledge Center Notifications setup differently!

For the moment I cant upgrade to the newest release - however I will be installing the newest release in a couple of weeks on another server - will look at it there and report back on this thread.

And as a sidenote, mentions does not work for me - on any units or browseres - ref this https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/36029/mentions-like.html

It does not seem to be "solvable"...
