The files are ziped .shp files broken up by state. I need to merge them into one nation wide dataset and safe to a geodatabase. A general workflow would be very helful. Or a list of Readers, Transformers and Writers and things to pay attention to.

How do I read all files from an FTP site, merge them into one dataset and write to a database.

Hi @hzassypk this is kind of a broad question, do all of your shapefiles have the same schema? If this is the case, you may not need any transformers and simply read them all in and write them out to one file. For reading from FTP here is a good article on working with the FTPCaller: Upload a File to the Safe Software Support FTP
