+7It used to work in older versions (2020?), but now will only use the value set in the writer. If I set it to 0 for automatic width, it results in "Error running translation"
I need the cell size to be a specific decimal value, but the writer will only let me set an integer for the cell width.

@mmacfarlane Thanks for the workspace & data. I've reproduce the issue. This has been fixed for FME 2021.2 which is scheduled for release in early November. betas are available here

I've thrown together a quick workspace that replicates the issued (though 0 width for automatic isn't causing the error running translation, weird!). The writer is still not honouring the template's width though.

Could you share the configuration that makes the Excel Writer preserve the cell width of the template?
I was trying to do the same but it didn’t work. I configured it to use the destination sheet as the template, and not to overwrite the file.
In “User Attribute” tab, I chose “Automatic” for attribute definition. But if I set the “Cell Width” to all 0s, it will auto fit the width, not preserverse it.
Below is how the file looks like before and after execution (using “Automatic” definition). I also attached the screenshot configurations.

Which version of FME are you using? I believe all versions after 2021.2 will honour all formatting from the template file.
