Hello @winters

Which build of FME 2014 are you using? This can be found under Help > About FME Workbench.

Excel images were implemented in FME 2014 B14279 and later.

I know that fme2016 can do these things (https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/33588/writing-images-to-ms-excel-spreadsheets.html),and i've read the article above, but when i do the same thing on fme2014, the excel cells only display url strings, why?

Now i'm using Build-14235 and my fmeserver2014 is also Build-14235

If i change my desktop version to FME 2014 B14279, can it be compatible to my fmeserver?

You will need to upgrade them both. The B14235 server just won't know how to do the writing you require.
