To understand the purpose of the workbench, we will have a look at the name of the workbench at first step. Secondly, we have to go through entire workbench from reader to writer to understand more and understand that all the changes are included or missed out.

On the other side, SRS documents will be in another document (i.e., name.docx) file which we have to refer for better clarity.

I would be better if workbench have minimum functionality of MSWord with allowing images from SRS documents to refer. This will help us to maintain the same vocabulary between SRS and Workbench. It will even help team members to coordinate in much better approach.

It is advisable to place the document just beside Main tab as shown in screenshot.

Hi ​@pratap , thanks for sharing this detailed idea and explaining your documentation workflow. After review, we’ve decided not to move forward with this idea’s described solution of adding another tab for documentation and direct integration of extensive text editing capabilities, as we believe this is best handled in purpose built tools, not Workbench. However, we do think we could do more on our side to automate documentation or consider how to export to other tools. We’re archiving the to keep the Ideas board focused on items that are under active consideration. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and we encourage you to continue suggesting ideas that improve the FME Platform.
