I was running a workbench from G: and wanted to view my logs. So I set my writers to output a log file for G:Logs but it didn't want to do it. When I created the folder 'Logs' it worked fine.

In future releases it would be great to have FME automatically generate the neccessary folder(s) to place a log file in

Agree, when you go to the effort of setting a non-default log location, then it would be great if fme would create the folder if it doesn't exist, otherwise if you move the workbench and the log folder was relative, the process falls over if the folder doesn't already exist.

Thanks to 1Spatial who pointed me to this when I had the same problem. Mine was happening via a WorkspaceRunner using a path for the log file generated from attributes.

I expected FME to just go ahead and create the folder because it does that with Writers.

My current workaround is to set the log to a scripted parameter, which checks to see if the directory exists and if not, it creates it.
