Ability to write to the Autodesk Revit format *.rvt (as opposed to *.ifc)

This may involve having to read in an existing revit file to pick up the schema (fieldnames) of geometry. Geometry / fieldnames could then be mapped from the existing format being read into FME to the revit output format.

If native reading of RVT files is of interest, vote for this idea too.

Revit format is proprietary and changes every single year. Apart from licensing libraries from Autodesk, there is the Teigha BIM Libraries (the same company responsible for the DWG libraries in most 3D software).

That said, I'd suggest focusing on IFC as an open standard format and improve the workflows with that format.

Import of IFC cannot produce native Revit objects. To be able to do that we need a .rvt writer. Must have!

We do know that Revit format is proprietary, but writing to such formats as .rvt would make everything so much easier in the other end, e.g. architechts, engineers, entrepreneurs etc. This goes for .3dm for Rhinoceros and .pln for Archicad as well. I do agree one should concentrate on one format, but in the world we are living in, that is not duable.

We need this Mr Safe Software. The ability to have this for design projects across architects, designers and engineers and GIS people is paramount and would help immeasurably with our integration workflows.
