Typically if writing out the headers of columns to Excel it is necessary to then open the Excel file manually to define a style for the first row (to make it stand out). Often just making the text bold or apply colour to the column name rather than the whole column, for example. The option to do this on the writer would cut out a post process.

Using a template is a workaround, but this would be neat to add within a workspace.

I would like to see this option in FME too.

I have like 20 scripts using this... it would be sooo easier!

it would be so much easier than having to use a template especially when you only want to make the headings bold!

my vote added to this too...very surprised it's not an option currently as I would imagine this is a standard requirement for any spreadsheet; it certainly is where I work. Cheers

Ugh, can't believe this is still not available :( I concur that having an option to style the headers separately from the values would be great. The template workaround is not an option if you want to write to the same file multiple times to insert new data since you have to set the parameter "Overwrite Existing File" to "Yes" to expose the template options.

I noticed that there is a setting "Format fields name row" in the Xlsx writer now (I noticed in version 2021.1.2 but it might have arrived earlier). However I cant find any documentation on how to use it unfortunately. But the name of the parameter makes me think that it might be related to this idea.
